Queen Califia

I see that you uploaded File:Detail of Queen Califia in the "California's Name" mural (Lucile Lloyd, 1937).gif and File:Detail of Queen Califia in the "California's Name" mural (Lucile Lloyd, 1937) (cropped).gif which are now used on Etymology of California, The Californias, Calafia, and elsewhere.

The description of the image is currently "Detail of Queen Califia in the "California's Name" mural (Lucile Lloyd, 1937) located in the California Capitol, in the John Burton Hearing Room" and there is a link to https://capitolmuseum.ca.gov/exhibits/murals/ ... that page describes "The Lucile Lloyd mural, The Origin and Development of the Name of the State of California, is permanently installed in the John L. Burton Hearing Room behind the dais."

However, that page does not mention Queen Califia. There is an image there which corresponds with the "Queen Califia" images you have uploaded, but its filename there is "aztec_man.gif": https://capitolmuseum.ca.gov/wp-content/uploads/aztec_man.gif

What is going on here? Is there some other information which establishes that this is an image of Queen Califia, and/or how did you come to upload aztec_man.gif as an image of Queen Califia? 107.215.218.145 11:17, 17 March 2023 (UTC)

The image name is very misleading, but yes there are a variety of sources confirming the figure as Queen Califia. Here’s one, but there are others. I’m currently traveling right now but happy to provide others when I get back home. Best, Cristiano Tomás (talk) 19:10, 17 March 2023 (UTC)
