First steps tutorial

Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
  • You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
  • To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
  • You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
  • There are several tools to upload files.
  • Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.
Made a mistake?
  • Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.

If a file contains a logo from ebay, it’s surely not your work. If you reproduce an old artwork, it’s PD-old, not PD-self. If you reproduce a modern artwork, it’s not your work, but a violation of copyright. If you copy images from websites, it’s also not your work. --Polarlys 01:06, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Les droits d'auteur...[edit]

..sont compliquées, je sais, mais néanmoins nous devons les respecter. Quand vous scannez une ancienne photo (disons, de 1944, comme ici), vous ne pouvez pas le publiér (soit ici, soit ailleurs) sauf si les droits d'auteur du photographe ont échoué. En France, la durée générale des droits d'auteur et de 70 ans après la mort du photographe, et en plus, il y a des délais additionnels pour des photographes qui ont vécu durant la deuxième guerre mondiale.

En conséquence, beaucoup d'images que vous avez contribué ici sont des violation des droits d'auteur, et on va devoir les enlever.

Si vous avez des questions à ce sujet, je vous conseille de lire Commons:Licensing ou Commons:À propos des licences. Vous pourriez également contacter User:Micheletb ou User:David.Monniaux, ils sont tous les deux de langue maternelle française et pourraient certainement vous expliquer plus en détail comment ça marche avec ces droits d'auteur. bandeau[edit]

Bonjour, en ce qui concerne le bandeau de la légion étrangère...je n'ai fait que véctoriser une version jpg en svg (vectoriel)...ensuite, il est possible d'éditer un bandeau en ajoutant l'image que l'on veut, il faut juste ajouter Modèle: devant le portail que l'on veut éditer exemple...je ne crois avoir fait cette opération personnellement...si vous voulez parler de l'intégration de la grenade au milieu du drapeau, il m'a fallu créer le drapeau en svg et y coller la grenade ne svg par dessus...--SuperManu SuperMessage 08:19, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

J'utilise personnellement les outils que la communauté anglaise a à offrir sur ce point, c'est-à-dire un bot d'archivage, MiszaBot (talk · contribs). En tant que « lecteur », j'ai mis un certain temps à le (re)comprendre : Fantassin 72 = Coloniale ? Je me souviens que c'est le cas, mais un individu classique croira que ces pseudos désignent deux personnes différentes (je te suggérerais d'utiliser cette manière de nommer l'auteur : « Fantassin 72 (Coloniale) ») ; as-tu déjà jeté un œil à la fusion des comptes ?
