I am pretty sure the person that nominated those for deletion is the same account so it is in effect a self deletion request so you may want to reconsider on that basis. Thanks Gustav VH 10:44, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm certain they are, I looked at it a while ago. They both identify as a gay cross dresser from New York. Special:Contributions/Gaynewyorker was their first account used from April-May, 2007, and Special:Contributions/Figure4 was their second used from November, 2007 to now. Figure4 has only ever made edits to GNY's images. Gustav VH 10:55, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Recently they did upload a few images from Flickr, but I still think they are the same. The subject of the images is actually identified by name in some of them, and many show his face so even if not a self deletion they should be deleted as not having permission. Gustav VH 11:04, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I don't think it is appropriate to keep any of these as the person has requested they be deleted- I am going to request administrator action. Regards Gustav VH 16:21, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

PDF Files[edit]

Hello again, can you delete or remove the old file I have in the list of Categories. It is called Against Commons Scope pdf files to delete. I couldn't get rid of it so I just redirected it, it shouldn't be there at Eugene's Z's suggestion WayneRay 12:08, 10 May 2008 (UTC)WayneRay[reply]

Deletion requests[edit]

Hi! In the last days I made several deletion request for images, all of them deleted within 24 hours by you without a real discussion. If I really would have thought that no discussion is necessary I would have deleted them myself or at least made a speedy request. Don't take it wrong, but the deletion requests have a huge backlog. The newest requests can wait the 7 days that are specified for deletion requests, even dupes. -- Cecil 13:29, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

2-3 weeks is not a real backlog, so those are the deletion requests that should be worked on, if somebody does not want to close the really old ones (from November currently). But closing a request to early is a problem. So I claimed that in my opinion a uploader was not trustworthy and that uploader didn't even get the chance to say something about it. What is so difficult about just going through the ones that are exactly one week old? There is no difference between them and the current one, except that the uploader also gets a change to say something about it. Sorry, if you are thinging that I'm am wrong giving somebody a change to explain an upload or at least tell why he thinks that the upload was correct. That at least gives a chance to tell somebody more about rules. You don't need to be that polite, but at least if somebody thinks that a deletion request is more appropriate give that somebody the respect to not tell that person how wrong it is to accommodate other users. -- Cecil 14:18, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Your arguments are full of holes. If you really think that we have a duty to our re-users to not host copyright violations, and (as I see it) a legal duty to delete copyright violations as soon as possible than start with those images which should have been deleted six month ago. I know it is much easier to delete those where nobody has had the change to deliver a contra-argument and where you don't have to read anything. No quarrels, no thinking necessary, no checking if there is maybe truth behind some arguments. Well done. -- Cecil 17:12, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! You has deleted an image in the page: http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atomium . The Atomium´s photo is mine, and I don´t know which is the reason of deletion. In the spanish wikipedia I suposse so that this work is for the spanish bots. I´m going to upload the same photo with the same media dates. If you think that this is a copyright violation, please give me the references ok?, bye. -- Suckfromthecan 15:44, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I understand it, thx for the request, regards! -- Suckfromthecan 15:44, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Alison Lapper Pregnant.jpg[edit]

Do not remove the deletion tag from Image:Alison Lapper Pregnant.jpg for any reason, until the deletion request is processed (which will take more than 7 days). Superm401 - Talk 02:47, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry for being short, and I didn't mean to imply no deletion requests should be speedy kept. However, this case merits a full discussion. Superm401 - Talk 03:32, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Advice[edit]

Hello Collard, you commented on the removal of sources from Image:Báb's repentance in E.G. Browen's book.jpg‎. Now the same user is doing it to Image:Báb Image in Nicolas.gif‎. The image in question is from a book in the early 1900s who identified it as Seyyed Ali Mohammed dit le Báb. A newer and more reliable sources states "Hájí Siyyid Kázim-i-Rashtí - This photograph [sic] was mistakenly identified as one of the Báb by Nicolas in his book Seyyed Ali Mohammed dit le Báb." The user also keeps removing that description from that image and places it the image in a category which it has no place in being. Can you please comment, as I see another edit war coming along. Regards, -- Jeff3000 14:41, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Collard, this disputed has been posted on the Administrators' noticeboard for a week or so, as well as the Dispute noticeboard (for about a day), at Commons:Disputes_noticeboard#Neutral naming and descriptions but no administrator has volunteered to mediate the issue. I don't see how the issues can be resolved without some sort of guidance from administrators. Regards, -- Jeff3000 17:30, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

edit war[edit]

Hi. About your advice: I'm not intrested in editing war and contribute in other works (and images) of project without any encounter a problem. But it seems that Jeff thinks these are against my beliefs, so that he continues editing war in special images (Special:Contributions/Jeff3000), and incomes some else users to this war (like User:ChristianEdwardGruber, User:Cunado). I wish he would stop this way and issuse contniuse wisely. Thanks for attention • Rohan T 7:18, 12 May 2008

This is not a rant. Got you worried there didn't I =). Just wanted to see if you consider Image:Deathmarches-clandestine.jpg to be in the same situation, the PD motivation seems shady to say the least. /Lokal_Profil 03:34, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Commons:Deletion requests/Image:46 chudy anyanwu.jpg been there two weeks now, seems long enough to me. A clear case anyway. Could you please remove the template? Thanks. --Baiter1950 02:56, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Lewis, you wrote to me "For the reasons I gave, I don't think it's a clear case at all". We appear to use our imagination differently here. I assume you'll agree that articles on wikipedia about these scams contribute to raising awareness. The picture is adding to awareness too. It is both illustrative to the ways scam baiters cheat upon the criminals, and (more) to the great lengths the criminals go to keep potential victims confident. I think the reason the status of this picture was never disputed until now has to do with an unwritten consensus to "leave as it is", and not take copyright laws strictly in this case. An approach that makes perfect sense, imho. Copies of scam letters, pictures and falsified documents can even be found on governmental warning pages. Best regards, --Baiter1950 14:37, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for you prompt answer. I am not a very experienced user, what would it take to successfully make a fair use claim? --Baiter1950 15:08, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I cannot find an email address on wiki to which the site owner personally could send his approval. Could you please lead me to it? Thanks again, Lewis. --Baiter1950 17:19, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ford Tempo reply[edit]

Thanks for taking the time to correct the erroneous flagging of the Ford Tempo image, but don't worry about me: I am neither a "kid" nor intimidated by the incident. (I find it hard to be intimidated by someone who doesn't spell, capitalize, and punctuate at at least a fourth-grade level, no matter what company they say they say online that they work for.) Copyright violation[edit]

I present my excuses for the copyrighted photos that I have no exact knowledge of origin. I am the coordinator of a working group to put information of Paraguay in "Wikipedia". On the list are many pictures we have taken, but we also have an agreement with other people linked to media that I have gone for me to upload the photos.

You deleted 3 photos quite rightly, I realize that they have been copied elsewhere.

However, 80% of the photos that are on the list are in my group, and we have taken with different cameras.

I know understand this situation, and I'm going to be much more careful when it comes to receive and publish them. In addition I will make a review of other photos that I charged and delete those that do not correspond.

But allow me to continue our project smoothly.

I am available for any clarification

Another template on cc-by???[edit]

Hi, according recent talk on COM:VP I tried to go one step further and to "kind-of-create" a "KISS" [=acronym] template for non-wikipedians willing to allow some of their work to be used by wikipedia under free license cc-by-3.0 (I personally would not offer any more anything else to a friend of mine, therefore, not to anybody at all.)

Actually, the basic work is done by rocket.

In case you like, and have the time, please have a look at User_talk:WeHaWoe/TestSite and contribute to the talk (which does not yet seem ideal to be discussed at COM:VP, at this time, I think). Best, -- WeHaWoe 17:06, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Airbag[edit]

Hi! I am sorry, but there seems to be a misunderstanding regarding this deletion request. There is an OTRS ticket from the originator stating that the image is/was for (completely) free use. So why delete it? Was it because of the way I put it in my comment? If so, please see this as a clarification. Best regards, Riggwelter 20:09, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I saw that when I looked at one of your pictures I really like. So I was wondering: why don't we create templates that would categorize photos automatically in the photographs by camera categories? --TwoWings * to talk or not to talk... 05:50, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is it possible we could get this image restored for the time being so that we can sort out the licensing issues? For context, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Kan%C4%A1i_O%C4%A5anko/Adoption#K.C3.B6k_Bayraq_.28Crimean_Tatar_flag.29 . Thanks Xenocidic 15:28, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Since the source is probably easier to sort out than the license, can you tell me how the original was licensed? As you know, copyright on images is not my area of expertise. =) xenocidic (talk) 18:12, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
One last thing, then I'll leave you alone (well, 'til next time anyways ;>), is Image:Flag of the Crimean Tatar people.PNG pretty much the same as the one I've linked above or is there significant differences? (My adoptee is not around to answer this for me). xenocidic (talk) 18:22, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, that should sort my adoptee out then. xenocidic (talk) 19:03, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
