Austrian football players[edit]

Hi Civitas13, thanks for uploading images like:

  • Austrian Bowl 2011 056 (5866261368).jpg
  • TryoutÖJNT_2_(106)_(6932033813).jpg

would it be possible that you identify / categorize individual players by name and/or team? Would improve images a lot. best --Herzi Pinki (talk) 09:05, 15 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Tiven2240: Thank for your suggestion. In fact I used the ordinary deletion request because until recently I didn't know the exist existence of speedy delete option. --Civitas13 (talk) 19:55, 11 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong crop information[edit]

Hi Civitas13, something went wrong with your edit here:[1]. Please take a look at it, I'm not sure what went wrong and it may be better if you review it yourself. Regards --Mirer (talk) 20:53, 7 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Mirer: Hi Mirer, thanks for the notice. In fact I was modifying a set of manually cropped file that had incomplete information (wrong license, lack of linking to original file and similar things) and in the confusion I have written the name of a wrong extracted file. Now I fixed it and it should be ok. Regards --Civitas13 (talk) 07:42, 8 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I thought that maybe something went wrong in your workflow and so it could be more useful if you look at it, than me just correcting one image. Regards --Mirer (talk) 14:43, 8 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Flickrreview is not needed for cropped files[edit]

Thousands and thousands of files

When a file has the {{Extracted from}} template, it doesn't need its own Flickrreview. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 22:06, 7 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Alexis Jazz: Thanke you for the information Alexis Jazz. Can I ask you another question about the review of file ? I was putting order in set of file taken from the website of a Brazilian news agency that lacked of the template {{Agência Brasil}}; since the were file taken from an external website, since I was already modifing the page, I also addeded the template {{License review}} in order to make someone verify that the files were really taken from the website of the Agency in question before the date in which the Agency change its licensing (even in fact these information are already visible in the metadata; see for example File:1035624-rj 07082016- v9a3125.jpg). However I noted the most (if not all) of the file in Category:Photographs by Agencia Brasil does not use the {{License review}} but only use {{Agência Brasil}}. My question is: is the template {{License review}} needed by these files or shall I remove it from the file in which I used ? Regards, --Civitas13 (talk) 08:13, 8 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It's not required to delete the image as I captured it using my phone during the live telecast. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SHISHIR DUA (talk • contribs) 11:21, 9 March 2020 (UTC) SHISHIR DUA (talk) 11:22, 9 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@SHISHIR DUA: Unfortunately things aren't so simple: none doubt that you take the image with your phone but in fact this doesn't give you the right to publish the image since the copyright of original sport image belongs to the TV broadcaster not to you (unless TV broadcaster publish its trasmission under CC-BY 4.0 license but it would be very strange and anyway you didn't provide any evidence of this). You should take a look at Commons:Screenshots#Audiovisual works and Commons:Derivative works in which all these question are well explained. Another thing: if someone put your image in deletion it is better to explain your reason in the page of deletion (Commons:Deletion requests/File:MANDAR Rao Desai 100 appearances for FC Goa.jpg in this case) request so that all other user can see your reason(Commons:Deletion requests/File:MANDAR Rao Desai 100 appearances for FC Goa.jpg). Anyway if you have other doubts about my explanation feel free to ask. Regards --Civitas13 (talk) 16:24, 9 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Argentine road signs[edit]

Hi, I want to congratulate you for the great work vectorising the Argentine road signs by the "Dirección Nacional de Vialidad", especially the school warning sign, which was widely used in national and provincial routes but it almost fell into disuse due to most of municipalities replaced it with this one, introduced in the Buenos Aires Visual Plan (1972) and then adopted throughout the country.

I had plans to vectorise the sign after taking some photos of a few surviving outside Buenos Aires (see example) until I realised you had vectorised it and uploaded here. Once again, brilliant work from you, and thanks for your contributions. - Fma12 (talk) 12:10, 11 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Fma12: thank you for your compliments :). I have been working on the vectorization of Argentine road signs for a while and I uploaded the sign that were ready some months ago: I have done most of regulatory and working signs but I still have to do informative signs which are difficult for my limitated skills with Inkscape (the written parts especially very difficult for me). --Civitas13 (talk) 16:03, 11 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Can I also ask you some questions about these signs (if it's okay with you)? First of all I was very surprised when you wrote me that the school sign was in disuse: as you can see I vectorized road signs from the Manual de Señalamiento Vertical of 2017 so I expected that sign are the one effectively in use today in Argentine: can you briefly clarify this (maybe road signs in Argentine are not equal in all the country ?). Secondly: this sign applies only to trucks with a lenght more than ... or to all veichles with a lenght more than ... ? Finally can you help me to understand the difference beetween the following signs ? Even trying to read the Manual de Señalamiento Vertical it is not clear to me the difference this 2 couple of sign (explecially the second 2 sign)? --Civitas13 (talk) 16:06, 11 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I appreciate a lot your comments, and I'm glad to give you all the assist needed. About your questions:
1) Most of Argentina traffic signs are the same and used throught the country. The school sign is one of the few exemptions. Moreover, it was dismissed by some municipalities due to the was widely used and even included in the Anexus L of 24,449 Law. Be in mind that the DNV signal system was digitised in 2017, but those signals are far older. In fact, they were first used in 1971, and only in national or provincial routes and outside the city of Buenos Aires, which adopted the "plan visual" code with slight differences (the school sign was one of them).
2) this is only for trucks or vehicles (could be buses) with a similar length.
3) All the four signs mean exactly the same (mandatory direction), despite their different backgrounds. Using white/blue background colors for the same signal is something common in some Argentine signals, p.e. this railway sign has another version in yellow background (this is not uploaded to commons so I can't show you any example).
For further information, you can see a complete list of signs Here, this information is an anexus of Law 24,449 promulgated in 1995.
Please let me know if you need further assistance, I'll be glad to help you! Greetings, Fma12 (talk) 16:55, 11 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for clarification @Fma12:  ! If I have additionl doubts I will ask again --Civitas13 (talk) 17:31, 11 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Great work with the road signs, thanks for that! I just have a question. Will you do all road signs from the Manual de Señalamento Vertical, like the INFORMATIVAS TURÍSTICAS Y DE SERVICIOS and NOMENCLATURA VIAL Y URBANA DISTANCIAS Y DESTINOS parts? All of it can be updated in the Wikipedia Road signs in Argentina page. Thanks for your awesome work! Tito zz (talk) 16:15, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Tito zz: : thank you for your compliments ! Yes, the idea is to do all the sign of the Manual de Señalamento Vertical, including informative ones; however it will take some time also especially because it is difficult (for my skill) to reproduce the correct font (and most of informative signs bear some words or name). Maybe you have already notice but I am collecting all the Argentine signs in this page. Regards --Civitas13 (talk) 17:38, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
El Manual has the information for the font as well, on page 54. It is also the same font that the United States use. If you need help in anything I can help, as I am Argentinean myself. It would be good if some street name signs would be shown as well, although you can't find them in the manual, they are easy to find with Google Streetview throughout the city of Buenos Aires for example. @Civitas13: Tito zz (talk) 19:09, 26 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Tito zz: Yes, I have seen that font are specified in tha manual; it similar to US font because even if the Argentine font is very similar but not exactly equal (seems to be called Roageek 2000). The difficult (and boring) task is to convert in SVG file the raster image of the font; having this done the rest will be easier. For the street sign I have seen that someone have already created this kind of signs (see even if, if I understood well the Argenine signage, can vary between different cities. --Civitas13 (talk) 20:39, 26 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
