Template:Mbox-WPstyle has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this template, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Please do not do administrator work[edit]

Edits to right request archives should not be done by people who are not administrators. Creating a new page (Commons:Requests for rights/Denied/Confirmed/Requests made by autoconfirmed users) just splits things further. Please leave administrative work to admins. --Majora (talk) 16:44, 21 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please refrain from asking others to make edits on your behalf[edit]

Asking others to make edits on your behalf is not appropriate. If you are desperately trying to edit wikis where you are blocked, please, please request a proper unblock. Please stop asking others. Masum Reza📞 08:17, 26 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Let's make it clear: Asking others to perform actions for you on another Wiki as a form of block-avoidance, and especially repeatedly asking multiple users after you did not get you request fulfilled, will not be tolerated here on Commons. Thanks for uploading File:Delhi public School,Dharan.gif. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Delhi public School,Dharan.gif]]) and the above demanded information in your request.

Hi! It has come to my attention that you have removed a warning which says that a file doesn't have enough information about the source or license conditions. Nevertheless, it seems to me that this information is still missing and I have restored the tag. You may either add the required information or, if you think that required information is already given, put the image up for a deletion request so that it won't automatically be deleted. Thank you.

I noticed that you uploaded a file using the name File:Grading a wikivandal, F.png. A file by this name already existed on Commons. Overwriting an existing file should not be done except when making minor, uncontroversial corrections, so the file has been restored to its previous version. If the file that you attempted to upload is within our project scope and is in the public domain or published under a free license, please upload it again under a different name. Thank you. Blocking/Unblocking[edit]

Blocked Indefinitely
Blocked Indefinitely
You have been blocked indefinitely from editing Commons. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may add {{Unblock}} below this message explaining clearly why you should be unblocked. For more information, see Appealing a block.
See the block log for the reason that you have been blocked and the name of the administrator who blocked you. After reviewing your edits I have come to the conclusion that you are not here to contribute constructively. Basically none of your edits are in any way beneficial and are only intended to create drama.

Sebari – aka Srittau (talk) 08:38, 7 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Calvinkulit, I believe you are really here to help and we need all the help we can get on Commons. I am going to unblock you, but there are some guidelines that I need you to follow for the time being:

  • Please do not edit another user's namespace, except to leave comments on their talk page. I understand that you would prefer User:Erlenmeyer to use the standard user boxes (I would prefer that too), but it is their own decision. In the future you could leave a message on their talk page asking them to use the standard ones, but you'd have to accept if they don't want to for whatever reason.
  • Please do not edit in the "Commons" namespace (except on talk pages of course), without previously discussing the changes, for example on a page's talk page, the Village Pump or the proposals page.
  • We certainly need more people that know how to edit templates. But when creating a new template for general use, especially one that is supposed to replace an existing one, please try to get consensus on the Village Pump or the proposals page before starting to use it.
  • Please do not close deletion requests yourself, even if you think the issue is resolved.
  • When someone reverts you or undoes your changes, please don't start an edit war, but try to discuss the changes on the page's talk page or on the other user's talk page.
  • If you have any question or problems, please use the Village Pump to ask for help.

If you are looking for areas where we need help: categories. Category:Media needing categories lists about a million files that still need categories. Personally, I find it very interesting to figure out the most appropriate categories for an image in question. But sometimes it also help to give an image just broad categories (for example the country where it was taken).

Thank you for helping out and following the guidelines above! Sebari – aka Srittau (talk) 10:00, 7 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Also, please don't add overly broad categories like Category:Flags. These categories are (usually) ideally empty. Instead, use categories like Category:Unidentified flags if you don't know anything about the flag. There are "unidentified" categories for many subjects. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 11:13, 7 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Recommendation: HotCat[edit]

In case you are not using it, I recommend HotCat to categorize images. It's pretty useful, since it suggests only existing categories and automatically converts category redirects for you. For example, if you type "Offenb" into the box, it will automatically suggest Category:Offenbach. It's a useful way to see if the category you want a file to put into is correct. Sebari – aka Srittau (talk) 14:53, 7 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I use that. Calvinkulittc 10:30, 8 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

No edits in the Commons namespace without discussion please[edit]

Please don't do edits like this without discussing on the talk page first, per the ground rules above! Sebari – aka Srittau (talk) 16:52, 14 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Other user's namespaces are off-limits[edit]

Per above, don't edit in other user's name spaces (except on their talk page), like you did here. If you have a suggestion for the user, you can always offer to help on the talk page. Sebari – aka Srittau (talk) 12:05, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:733a1857c551ba67e3f9edf771a9efd6 300.png, is missing information about where it comes from or who created it, which is needed to verify its copyright status. Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted.

If you created the content yourself, enter {{Own}} as the source. If you did not add a licensing template, you must add one. You may use, for example, {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} or {{Cc-zero}} to release certain rights to your work.

If someone else created the content, or if it is based on someone else's work, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you!

About Importing files from other wikis[edit]

Could you stop importing files from other wikis without checking them first to see if they are compatible with Commons? Commons requires files to have educational value. Also some files you have imported don't have sufficient information about their copyrignt status. Just because a file has a compatible copyrignt license tag, doesn't mean it's okay to import them to Commons. File pages must have at least four following information: 1: source 2: License 3: Author. Please at least verify files' copyrignt status before you import them to Commons. Masum Reza📞 02:31, 30 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
