New user right

Thanks much, but where was the request made? I can't find it in the achive of Commons:Requests for rights, and I know that I didn't apply for it myself. Nyttend (talk) 13:55, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

Patroller request

Dear, I confirm that I was requesting for autopatroller. Best regards, --Réginald (To reply) 12:06, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

Hello Bidgee!

I have recognized that you have closed the third attempt of this deletion request. I do not have an opinion here, but your "kept"-reason does not match with the reason the deletion-submitter stated: the concerns of the submitter were of educational nature. You did not respond on that: You smashed this request with the comment "Commons isn't censored" - which is right. But there also the demand that files must be realistically useful for an educational purposes - exact that was wanted to be discussed by the submitter.

All in all I find it fair of you to reopen the request.

Regards, High Contrast (talk) 10:37, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Reopened. Bidgee (talk) 10:56, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Ahah

Now I have had a lesson in the issues of items loaded to en and what to do to get em to commons - thanks for the example! SatuSuro (talk) 11:20, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Upload.py

Hi Bidgee, just wondering if it worked out. If the initial set up was fairly easy to work out, I might add a version that uploads an entire directory. -- User:Docu at 02:30, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

Well I downloaded Python 2.6 (executable) and installed it, then downloaded TortoiseSVN in order to download the whole Pywikipedia coding. Did the needed user-config.py then right clicked Python (command line) short cut, selected Properties, pasted the dir that Pywikipedia was located into the Start in and clicked on Apply.
I then used the code (by pasting it into the Python (command line)) you pasted into the Commonist talk page.
# -*- coding: utf-8 -*- import wikipedia, upload import config url = u"Panicum effusum.jpg" title = u"Panicum effusum.jpg" description = u""" """ targetSite = wikipedia.getSite('commons', 'commons') bot = upload.UploadRobot(url, description=description, useFilename=title, keepFilename=True, verifyDescription=False, targetSite = targetSite) bot.upload_image(debug=False) import wikipedia, upload import config url = u"Panicum effusum 1.jpg" title = u"Panicum effusum 1.jpg" description = u""" """ targetSite = wikipedia.getSite('commons', 'commons') bot = upload.UploadRobot(url, description=description, useFilename=title, keepFilename=True, verifyDescription=False, targetSite = targetSite) bot.upload_image(debug=False)
Bidgee (talk) 09:52, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for your feedback. It should be operational then. It would good if there was a quick way around the TortoiseSVN part. I think I will leave the explanation at Commons:Tools#Python_Wikipedia_Bot as it's now (the sample there is somewhat longer). For most users of "Commonist", upload.py will be too technical anyway. BTW "generate_user_files.py" could create the basic version of user_config.py. -- User:Docu at 00:21, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

If it's of any help

I took a look at both versions of the image you nominated for deletion here. The file on the Commons is File:Police armed uk.jpg.

On close examination, the one without the blurred faces is original (or more close to the original). That may sound obvious, but there is the question of the other part of the image that is different: the flag and lamppost. To me, there is no doubt that the flag and post have been edited out. There is some repetition of the pattern in the tree behind the police officers, there is a slight remnant of the pole where it touches the male officer's hat, and the retouch caused damage to the strap coming up from behind this same officer's right shoulder, other parts of his shoulder, and the WPC's ponytail.

I don't know if this is of any help to you with investigating the authorship of the image and copyright status, but I thought I'd let you know anyway. --Setanta747 (talk) 03:50, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

  • I will write to the bottom of the files should be deleted. Because the files are confidential and private information about people exist. Thank you.

Chrylser Valiant AP6 images

Hi. Given that the AP6 Valiant ran from 1965 to 1966, is there any chance that you could change the page names of your two AP6 images. Cheers, GTHO (talk) 03:45, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

Deletion of used files

Deletion of used files
This deletion discussion is now closed. Please do not make any edits to this archive. You can read the deletion policy or ask a question at the Village pump. If the circumstances surrounding this file have changed in a notable manner, you may re-nominate this file or ask for it to be undeleted.

Hi, I noticed that you delete files that are used in several articles, such as File:Wikibukkake.png. Please send them to the delinker so that they can be properly removed from the articles that use them. --Foroa (talk) 15:20, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

Doesn't the bot do it automatically (removing deleted [from Commons] images in articles)? I'm not seeing a template to use for de-linking in User:CommonsDelinker/commands/documentation. Bidgee (talk) 15:29, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

There is no need to rush. For some of the (used) files you are deleting, is it contestable if they are in scope or not. --Leyo 15:47, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

As Jimbo has stated, these files will not be deleted forever and can be undeleted some the new guidelines/policies are in place. I also completely understand on why he and no doubt the board want these deleted even though I do not like censorship but you have to draw a line in the sand and I also do support COM:SEX in which those files really fail. Also most museums, galleries and archives also have policies on content like this so why shouldn't the Wikimedia Foundation? Bidgee (talk) 15:53, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
Drawings? There should be time enough to inform the affected wikiprojects beforehand. They might want to move some images from Commons to their project. --Leyo 15:58, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
They can do that at the undeletion requests. Bidgee (talk) 16:01, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, I got it wrong. Still a bad idea to speedy delete images that are used in many wikipedia's. --Foroa (talk) 16:06, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
As an administrator, you are expected to work for the Commons and not for Jimbo. And there is no consensus to delete the files on Commons. Please undelated all, this is abuse of admin power.--Ankara (talk) 17:34, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
Please read on what I said above, I'm not working for Jimbo and Administrators are damned if they do, damn if the don't in this type of situation. Bidgee (talk) 03:31, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
You did work for Jimbo, because there was no consensus on Commons but just a proposal from Jimbo and u started delete files used on Wikipedia. Why should your personal opinions about the educational value outweigh the user who placed the files in the articles?--Ankara (talk) 07:48, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
Again I do not work for Jimbo and I suggest you refrain from stating something which isn't true. I didn't say it was my personal opinion and it's not my personal opinion, educational value far outweighs the user who added the image to the Wiki projects. The projects, such as Wikipedia, Wikisource, Commons ect all exist as they are for educational value and not the hosting of pornographic material. Bidgee (talk) 08:27, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
So what you are saying is that the user has placed images of the articles on Wikipedia did it because they liked pornography? And not because they felt that the pictures had an educational value? It is an extreme attack on users in a number of language versions of Wikipedia. And if it is not your personal opinion, whose opinion is it when you say that the images do not have an educational value? BTW, most of the pictures you deleted has been undelete.
I am simply saying that you actually worked for Jimbo, and not for consensus here when you deleted the images. Perhaps it was not your intention to do so.--Ankara (talk) 08:40, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
To say that my comment is/was "an extreme attack" at users is completely irresponsible as I'm not talking about the users but the content. If they have been undeleted, I don't care if they are deleted or undeleted (thats what DR is there for) and I'll not be re-deleting them.
Again I have said it three times already, I do not work for Jimbo. Bidgee (talk) 08:52, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
Please read again "educational value far outweighs the user who added the image to the Wiki projects", You ignore the one thing here. They added the picture because it had an educational value. --Ankara (talk) 09:01, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
Again it was directed at the content, a user may have added the image for a few reasons, I'm not going to make an assumption as to why they added the image. Also do not make bad faith comments directed at editors. Bidgee (talk) 09:27, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
This?? Seriously? For someone who doesn't know what it's depicting it looks like a woman drinking a glass of milk. And even if they know it is semen, it is clearly not an explicit sexual act. And even if it would be, it's a drawing and not a photograph. /grillo (talk) 17:59, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
As I've linked above, you can always go to undeletion requests, I don't see the image as educational. Bidgee (talk) 03:31, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
For the same reason you should use the deletion requests, because some one else might se the image as educational. Quick deletion should only be used for uncontested deletion. /Lokal_Profil 13:39, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

"Again it was directed at the content, a user may have added the image for a few reasons, I'm not going to make an assumption as to why they added the image." -- Funny how you demand that others assume good faith concerning your own contributions (see edit summary) but you will not simply assume good faith on the part of other contributors. --Melanom (talk) 06:09, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

That comment was directed at me personally, I have not attacked editors but commented on contributions and I believe I have commented and acted in good faith. Bidgee (talk) 06:32, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

Erik-block

I left a response on his talkpage to you/him/others. Investigating a bit more, I notice he seems to have a long history of blocks as well as a long history of good-faith improvements to the project - this tells me either "He has difficulty controlling his emotions" or "He is a favoured horse to kick for admins" - either way, I'm not sure continuing to "up the ante" is the best way to deal with somebody with his...err, "unique" way of responding to criticism. Getting involved in Wikiprojects and other (non-hierarchal) aspects of Commons seems like a better long-term strategy. If we continue to deal with the username in the current fashion, it will spend five of every six months banned, and he will just end up editing through sockpuppets and new accounts if we ever perm-ban. If we can reform the user behind the username, however, he stands to be a masterpiece of rehabilitation. Max Rebo Band"almost suspiciously excellent" 04:35, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

Giving it some thought and looking at other people's ideas, I think we could drastically reduce the tension if we were to garner some kind of pledge that he is not blocked on the condition he agrees not to edit any UserTalkpages but his own; but still allow him to upload/contributeToDiscussion. He (perhaps rightly) leaves a sour taste in people's mouth when he "confronts" them - as do many other users here (Sheesh, I can think of a handful of administrators who have atrocious personal-interaction skills). I think a strict "no posting on usertalks" and a more-lenient "no making references to other editors at all" would solve 90% of the problems with this user, while still avoiding having to ban him and reduce his good-faith help on the project. Max Rebo Band"almost suspiciously excellent" 17:28, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
I really hoped he would improved his behavior but it seems not. I agree, I rather see him reform then indef blocked and I think any user restrictions should be placed on AN/U for the community to discuss and agree on (We are never going to get 100% agreement) the restrictions which should be enforced. Hi. It seemed a bit too severe to go from "no block" to an indef ban. I took the liberty to replace the ban by a 2-week block, I hope it is ok. I'll keep watching this user's contribs anyway. Regards, --Eusebius (talk) 08:55, 24 May 2010 (UTC)

No problem with me, I noticed the number of warnings so I indef'ed the contributor but it didn't mean it was for life. I would like to see copyright violators reform to become constructive contributors rather then waiting for the block to end. Bidgee (talk) 10:53, 24 May 2010 (UTC)

You deleted this file. Was it a record label? In that case there is no copyright in the photo of a 2D object. /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 14:10, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

It was a record label but it had the Ebay watermark on it (IE: the camera icon on the bottom right hand side [2]), so very unlikely it was the uploader's photo. Bidgee (talk) 14:14, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
Does not need to be uploader's photo. It is just a 2D thing. The photo lacks originality, according to PD-Art and PD-scan. /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 14:20, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
Well that is debatable, as everyone has different opinions on originality (IE: this digitised image has no originality even after all the work which was involved in digitising it but the image which I deleted could be seen as having originality) and there is another photo (I do not see an issue with this photo however). Feel free to request a deletion review. Bidgee (talk) 14:33, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
Well, go ahead then and delete File:Offenbach Mainbrücke.jpg and everything else collected from eBay. /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 14:41, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

Duplicate images?

Category names

Hi Bidgee. How does one go about renaming categories such as Category:Sculptures in Northern Territory and Category:Sculptures in Australian Capital Territory? There must be a bot somewhere that can do this quicker than a manual move? Cheers, Mattinbgn/talk 22:02, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

You'll have to create the new categories and move the images manually, Admin's can use a bot to Move cat, I think it also fixes the category in the images within the old category, if not there is another bot but can't find it ATM as my computer is painfully slow ATM. SpaceLiner_separation_wiki.jpg

Dear Bidgee, you deleted the picture SpaceLiner_separation_wiki.jpg which I uploaded for some days on Commons. This picture was made by the division DLR-SART (German Space Agency), where I am working. Concequently we have all the rights on this picture. However it is right that I am new in the Wikipedia community and may have make a mistake when I added the picture. In this case can you please tell me what was wrong so that I can upload the picture correctly. Thanks in advance for your help. Best regards. Eypdu (talk) 12:24, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

It was deleted as there was no evidence of permission, to grant permission please email OTRS (See COM:OTRS which has the info needed). One you have emailed, just reply on my talk page with the OTRS ID (which should be automatically emailed to you) and I'll undelete it plus add a template to state it has been sent. Bidgee (talk) 12:33, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for your very fast answer. I sent today the email to authorize the use of the picture, but I still didn't get an answer, I guess it takes a bit time... As soon as I will receive the answer from OTRS I will tell you. Eypdu (talk) 15:26, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
I'm sure it sends a auto generated email (most ticket systems do), then again I haven't had to use OTRS myself but the servers did have an outage on the 5th of July. I've undeleted the image and added OTRS pending but a few days ago the backlog is 4 weeks for a volunteer to review the OTRS permission. Bidgee (talk) 23:59, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Thank you again for your help, I tried again this morning to send an email (as explained on Commons:Email_templates) to permissions-commons-at-wikimedia.org but still didn't receive an answer yet. Maybe there are still problems with the servers ...? I will try later again this day, if it is still problematic. Maybe through the French version it could be faster ? Regards. Eypdu (talk) 06:03, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
As I didn't received any automatic email yesterday, I tried on the French version of Commons yesterday, but I also didn't receive any automatic confirmation email. This morning I did it again on the English version but didn't get any automatic reply. What should I do? I guess it is not a good idea to continue sending emails if it has no effect ... I don't want to be considered as a spammer ... I couldn't find any notice that there are problems with the server. I don't understand why it is not working. Do you have a clue? Thanks in advance for your help. Eypdu (talk) 07:20, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
I try and find a OTRS volunteer and see if they can locate your email(s). Maybe OTRS doesn't send a ticket ID (I would have thought it would have) but I'll ask them any way. Bidgee (talk) 08:22, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Judging by the email they sent you (using Google to translate it) it still isn't enough. Please see COM:OTRS. Bidgee (talk) 22:06, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
Hi Bidgee. I allowded myself to erase a few personal datas in the previous mail that could be misused. Just hidden the edit's with the info. For the image to be uploaded here it has to be permission from the copyright holder for free-use license for it to be on Commons or if it is only for permission of fair-use on the French Wiki then it can't be uploaded here. Also, if you could delete the first version of File:Apartments, Ascot Avenue, Zetland, New South Wales (2010-07-10) 06.jpg (dated 03:35, 12 July 2010) that would be great (it's a duplicate). OSX (talkcontributions) 04:29, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks to fleet lists, it makes it easy to ident the chassis but the body is easy to ident. Deleted the first upload of the unit. Bidgee (talk) 05:04, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for that. Now that I know about fleet lists I won't be so reluctant to take photographs of buses anymore (too hard to identify). OSX (talkcontributions) 05:12, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
Yep that is the list I use. ;) I also use forums when new buses are not yet on the fleet list online. How far are you from Hoxton Park? I was wondering if you could get a few photograph of Busabout's buses (As I've covered the sister Category:Busabout Wagga Wagga but would be great to have the parent company covered as well). Bidgee (talk) 05:40, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
Hoxton Park is far out in the western suburbs, I'm on the east in the Sutherland Shire. When I'm around that way next I'll get some photos. I am assumung the depot for Busabout is in Hoxton Park. OSX (talkcontributions) 07:00, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
Understandable, I've only visited Sydney Airport and Sydney City and understand on how big Sydney is! Busabout depot is located at 185 Fifteenth Ave, West Hoxton (33°55′14″S 150°49′57″E / 33.92057°S 150.83263°E / -33.92057; 150.83263) but you could go to a interchange or high freq route (Busabout network map) as the depot is a fairway out. Bidgee (talk) 07:36, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

Could you please undelete this file? I am not the original creator/poser but i got the picture directly from him, for the realization of his wikipedia page, so there is absolutely no matter with rights on the picture. 88.175.40.109 10:42, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

Declined, an email or letter from the copyright holder or photographer (don't worry as it will not be made public) will need to be sent to OTRS (See: COM:OTRS on how to do it and want needs to be sent). Bidgee (talk) 11:52, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
I understand. I asked the author to do this and i prepared the mail for him. Hope it will make it soon. Thank you! TotalRecall (talk) 17:41, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

I think this image should be passed...or at least the fail mark removed. It seems to come from either a US government source or a US government soldier. So, it would be in the public domain. I don't know why flickr would mark it. Best Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 07:48, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

The Flickr uploader isn't the photographer since there name is Chris and from Melbourne, Australia (stated in the profile), Flickr review will be removed as the source in the EXIF states Lance Cpl. Dwight A. Henderson. Bidgee (talk) 08:49, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
  • Thanks for your help. I know the uploader George, a little, and the high quality of his work. He has uploaded thousands of images here and is a refugeee from Citizendium. But I felt that maybe its better that an Admin views this than someone who knows him a little. He also uploaded this quality image which President George W Bush would ban if it was possible:
  • File:C-17 Medevac mission, Balad AB, Iraq.jpg

The casualties of war. I and Admin Lupo saw the image too before the flickr owner deleted the account but it is the work of a US soldier which makes it PD. The author's name is in the extended details of the metadata...another US soldier. With Best regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 18:05, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

Deletion

Hi Bidgee,

I uploaded the edited versions of these images first, rather than the originals. Please delete the first versions of the following:

Redbullcola.jpg

So why was this a copyright violation? I took the picture myself right there in my own kitchen. TenPoundHammer (talk) 01:24, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

Even if you take a photograph of the can it (labelling on the can) is copyrighted which is what we call derivative work. Bidgee (talk) 04:43, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
Then what license should it be uploaded under? If you can undelete it for me and add the proper license, that'd be great. TenPoundHammer (talk) 16:29, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
It can't be on Commons at all. Files (not just photographs but video and images [eg: logos]) which have copyrighted content (derivative works) which isn't covered by Freedom of Panorama or de minimis can't be uploaded. RedBull is one of those where none of those two (COM:FOP and COM:DM) apply. Bidgee (talk) 22:05, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

Abbottsford bridge - same photograph

Hi Bidgee. I have a small question about process. The two photographs below seem to me to be essentially the same photograph - but one is of a much lower resolution (size?) than the other. What is the procedure for dealing with that? Is is permitted to delete the lower quality image or do they both need to be kept? Thanks heaps. BTW, you may be interested in en:List of crossings of the Murray River. I am starting to scope out a similar list for the Murrumbidgee, if you are interested in participating. Cheers, Mattinbgn/talk 01:52, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

We delete them as a duplicate or scaled down image (Duplicate), it is ok sometimes to keep both if the altered version has had fixes or cropping but if it is just the same as the original then there is little point in keeping it. Now I'm kicking myself for not purchasing the original photo of the Union Bridge (was a wooden truss bridge in the early 1900s) over the Murray in Albury, I see what I can do but I'm going to be busy in the coming months. Bidgee (talk) 04:34, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. -- Mattinbgn/talk 07:26, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

Another request

Hi Bidgee. I was a little careless and moved File:CoburgCityHall.jpg from enwiki to commons although the source given was the Council website. It has been licenced as public domain but that appears very unlikely to me. Can you take a look at it and recommend what I should do? -- Mattinbgn/talk 00:31, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

What makes the file more suspect is that it was PD-Author, It is possible to get a free image (high res too) so isn't a loss to us but just need more photographers in some regions such as Moreland LGA. Bidgee (talk) 04:30, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

DR close?

Dear Bidgee,

Since the nominator withdrew his DR here, can this case be closed as a nominator withdrawn request? Its more than 7 days now certainly and right now its just gathering dust for days. (since July 27 last week) Thank You, --Leoboudv (talk) 05:03, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

Monuments and memorials

Feel free to do so, if that's what you believe the Australian understanding is. However, I have to tell you, given the way things were categorized in the Australian categories, I can honestly say that there didn't appear to be any meaningful distinction between monuments and memorials in the way that things were categorized. --Skeezix1000 (talk) 13:30, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

File:Free_Flight_Bird_Aviary.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Blocked

You blocked me for 24 hours and the reason you stated for it I think is not appropriate. Anyway, now I just want to know if a user can use words and sentences like:

  • retard
  • blow me
  • should be obvious to anyone with half a brain why the rename was done
  • His original snotty post was unsatisfactory, I don't need his vomit on my talkpage.

And don´t be punished for it. Yes, some words of warning you gave, but, no action? I never used such words and got a 24 hours block. --210.165.133.93 07:19, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

Kintetsubuffalo was very close to getting a 24 hour block (and will be if they resume) but your behaviour was worse and needed action to be taken. Also when going a deletion request you should give at least something that everyone understands (rather then "SPAM" say something like "This image is being spammed on a number of Wikipedia articles, the image is out of scope"). Bidgee (talk) 07:48, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
Can you explain why my behavior was worse? If it is about restoring a message in the discussion, I was not aware that any user can keep the messages he wish on his own discussion,. When I discovered that, I stopped. About the SPAM thing you right. Indeed I explained it later on the DR of the file, but at that moment it was so obvious checking the file, as it was widely spread over lots of wiki. Fortunately, all but one the users who checked the DR understood what I was trying to mean. --210.165.133.93 08:39, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
Harassing an editor by reinserting four times after they removed it (with uncivil a edit summary) whether or not the editor should or shouldn't remove messages on their talk page (always a debated issue) also edit warring is a no no here (just like Wikipedia). Next time you have to deal with an editor like Kintetsubuffalo, take it to AN/UP. Bidgee (talk) 10:48, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
Thanks Bidgee, now all is clear. I thought only offensive messages can be removed from discussion. And next time I have the disgrace to find an user like him, I´ll follow your advice. Thanks again. --210.165.133.93 11:47, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

IP

What a nice birthday gift! Thanks for blocking Cristián Berríos' IP. He has been harassing me since I requested deletion of his autopromotional articles on some Wikipedias, and because I requested the deletions of his multiple copyvios. Again, thanks! Hi Bidgee. Hope you have dry feet where you are. My road to Wagga has been closed most of the past week! Could you take a look at the attached picture that is proposed for speedy deletion. There seems to me to be a distinct lack of common sense being applied. -- Mattinbgn/talk 21:15, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

Things have dried out but the clean-up is going to be a long one. The road will most likely be closed for a few more days with the flood water slowing (few days ago it was doing up to 20km/h but now only doing 5km/h). What the floods didn't get of the farmers crops the locusts will. I agree, OSX did find a link to the image (a blog where it was likely from) but common sense is that it is an image from the 1890s, so a source isn't really needed since no one owns the copyright due to the age. Bidgee (talk) 23:50, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

Is there a reason you protected my page?

The link is on the talk page. Is there any particular purpose to having the link on my user page? Is there a reason that the link on the talk page would not suffice? [talk] XANDERLIPTAK 06:22, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

User talk page crosslink is not good enough, User page crosslinks are important if you use more then one account. See my comment on Commons:Administrators' noticeboard/User problems as I'm not going to repeat what I've stated. Bidgee (talk) 06:33, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

Hello. When you nominate files for deletion, you may want to consider using an edit summary.[3], [4], [5]. I'm only listing 3, but there were 5 others where you didn't appear to use an edit summary.--Rockfang (talk) 15:50, 21 November 2010 (UTC)

Alfonso Muñoz I demonstrate my disagreement for this erased one. The image has been drawn entirely by me from a manual of corporate reproduction. It is a manual that he says how it has to reproduce. The institutional flags are probably, the only images that have in his essence a public character and they should be able to be reproduced legally by anyone. In any case I accept the decision. A greeting. Alfonso Muñoz— Preceding unsigned comment added by Todofai (talk • contribs)

And...

Where do you get off telling me what I can and can't have on my user page? Why are you allowed to decide what goes on yours? Why must I be required to link to a retired account? Alexander Liptak (talk) 12:57, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

The account has history, clearly you are still using it to remove the notice and the fact that you were/are using two accounts. All editors with more then one account should link them as they will be blocked for abusing multiple accounts. Same will apply to your Xanderliptak‎ account if you remove it once more. Bidgee (talk) 13:55, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
I'm guessing you're away or asleep at present. Since you weren't notified, and if you haven't noticed, Xander has brought this to a noticeboard:[6]Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots04:29, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
It would be best if you could also explicitly state the block reason within his other account, as it was left blank, and he's using that as an excuse to request unblock. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots05:21, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
The changes you made are not displaying correctly on my PC when I look at them. Maybe a syntax problem. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots05:30, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
I had to go out, but thank you for informing me. I don't know why the reason didn't show up before but it does now since I fixed my own error. Bidgee (talk) 05:33, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
Looks good now. It also makes the unblock request look a little foolish, but that's show-biz. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots05:36, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

Thank you

Thanks for the new privileges. I will try to use them wisely and sparingly, especially in the case of rollback. I'm fairly new at commons. How often is rollback needed? I would think far less than it is on wikipedia. Another area that has me a bit baffled is the matter of categories. That's something that might take me a while to figure out. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots13:19, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

Your welcome. Vandalism is not as common here as it is on Wikipedia but it does come in handy. Category system here is very much different to Wikipedia. Bidgee (talk) 13:57, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
