Robin Hood image[edit]

Greetings, I recently shared the Wikipedia article w:Robin Hood and was surprised to see that the image rendered entirely in black. So, I checked the image and see that it is a transparent PNG. I suspect that this has something to do with it being a transparent image. Anyway, I made a comment here:

@Enquire: I don't know why the transparent part of the image would render in black - it's supposed to be tansparent, so the background should be the off-white of the Wikipedia page rather than black. Beleg Tâl (talk) 02:42, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Beleg Tâl: I have no idea either. The thing is that the whole image is black. I am not sure if there are greys that might show. If I share this page on Telegram or Signal, there is a black square where I expect the image to be. I also found that some graphic editors show the same way. Maybe because they default to a black background.

@Enquire: if you're displaying it on a black background, then yeah it will be black-on-black; it will need to be displayed on a lighter background to be visible. Beleg Tâl (talk) 23:44, 9 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Beleg Tâl: I still don't understand why a black and white image was rendered transparent. The original was black & white, not black and taupe. Besides, what about if the browser is set to dark mode?
If the image is opened with various graphic editors, including Paint, Paint 3D, Irfanview, etc., it displays as a black square.
There is a discussion on the Robin Hood page here:

@Enquire: Why not make an opaque black-and-white copy of the file, and use that on Wikipedia instead? There is no reason we can't use two different image files Beleg Tâl (talk) 20:16, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:A comprehensive index of names of original authors and translators of psalm and hymns, with the dates of their various works.djvu, Don't forget to add a completed {{Book}} template on the file description page for your upload. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 18:52, 18 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@ShakespeareFan00 is that template built into the IA-Upload tool? If not, you may wish to have it added if it is desired that the template be used more comprehensively. Beleg Tâl (talk) 23:17, 18 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
IA-Upload adds a Book template automatically. Sometimes fields have to be added manually :) BTW {{Addbookdata}} even though substed, needs some copyediting, and translation BTW. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 07:26, 19 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
