My watchlist

You just did thousands of edits on my files like that [1]. Yes there was (through an error) a double "Country=xxx" tag, but this was not critical at all, merely a duplicate in the source text without any influence on the appearance of the description page. Actually not worthy discussing, but the problem is: you did all the edits without bot flag, and without even marking them as minor corrections. The result is, that my watchlist is now hopelessly overflooded and I cannot see any other recent changes except by you, even if I set the maximal displayed number of 1,000 changes. Therefore, you did not help in any way, but did a damage to me, because you actually abused the VFC tool to easily raise your own editcount and I cannot sufficiently monitoring my watchlist because of that. With that said, I'm tempted to report the issue on COM:ANU, but would like you to comment on it here first. Thanks --A.Savin 14:40, 14 November 2017 (UTC)

Hello A.Savin, i am doing a lot of semi-automatic cleanup tasks here. For convenience i sometimes use VFC with my normal account even for a large number of edits. This time i browsed through Category:Pages using duplicate arguments in template calls where i found your files and immediately cleaned them up. I know that it breakes some rules. And if this is really an issue for you to report it, please do. I am not here to always follow all rules but to improve the quality of metadata even if i from time to time break rules. PS: You watchlist will be ok after a time. Regards, --Arnd (talk) 15:43, 14 November 2017 (UTC)
OK, then here: Commons:Administrators'_noticeboard/User_problems#User:Aschroet. --A.Savin 16:02, 14 November 2017 (UTC)

I blocked your account since you seem to be using an unflagged bot. Please register the bot and get the flag first.--Ymblanter (talk) 07:31, 23 November 2017 (UTC)

I have unblocked you. I don't see how our policies allow to use the block button in this stage. Please first try to come to an agreement by normal talking. Also VFC is not a bot and no botflag is needed to use it. Jcb (talk) 16:27, 23 November 2017 (UTC)

email

Arnd, According to Commons notifications you send me an email. However I do not receive any emails from you. Can you send it again, or write here or on my talk page? --Jarekt (talk) 15:46, 27 November 2017 (UTC)

Hi Jarekt, thank you for asking. I asked you to help me with an issue. Since i was blocked i wrote via mail. Seems to be solved for now. --Arnd (talk) 16:04, 27 November 2017 (UTC)
Ah, yes the speed of edits by some of the tools is a blessing for some and a curse for others. --Jarekt (talk) 16:12, 27 November 2017 (UTC)

Partners and allies
  • We are still welcoming (more) staff from GLAMs (Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums) to become part of our long-term focus group (phabricator task T174134). You will be kept in the loop of the project, and receive regular small surveys and requests for feedback. Get in touch with Sandra if you're interested - your input in helping to shape this project is highly valued!
Research
  • Research findings from interviews and surveys of GLAM project participants are being published to the research page. Check back over the next few weeks as additional details (notes, quotes, charts, blog posts, and slide decks) will be added to or linked from that page.
Development
  • The Structured Commons team has written and submitted a report about the first nine months of work on the project to its funders, the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. The 53-page report, published on November 1, is available on Wikimedia Commons.
  • The team has started working on designs for changes to the upload wizard (T182019).
  • We started preliminary work to prototype changes for file info pages.
  • Work on the MediaInfo extension is ongoing (T176012).
  • The team is continuing its work on baseline metrics on Commons, in order to be able to measure the effectiveness of structured data on Commons. (T174519)
  • Upcoming: in the first half of 2018, the first prototypes and design sketches for file pages, the UploadWizard, and for search will be published for discussion and feedback!
Stay up to date!

Warmly, your community liaison, SandraF (WMF) (talk)

Your bot edits

Hi, you are urgently requested to respond to this discussion. Over 24 hours have passed since it was raised and you didn't respond sofar, although the contested edit pattern still continues in high speed. Jcb (talk) 17:57, 17 December 2017 (UTC)

Daily gallery updater has failed on User:Aschroet/Uploads/Thuringia

Hello. This message is to inform you that a daily gallery in your userspace, User:Aschroet/Uploads/Thuringia, has failed. Due to software limitations, the bot has a hard upper-limit of about 6000 files per day (including overflow galleries), while your gallery had 17480 files.

This usually happens because a gallery is too broad, encompassing too many subcategories. Please review the logs here and request that a subcategory be excluded, or narrow your category choice(s).

Please make your request for removal within 4 days, or your gallery will be subject to removal.

Thank you. Magog the Ogre (via OgreBot (talk) 03:19, 21 December 2017 (UTC))
