I see you nominated File:CPR_LogoBlack.jpg for deletion. I did also because it is a logo for a university at commons, so I just assumed it was a copyvio. I asked for it to be restored per the discussion below, but am not sure what to do now:

Well, it was designed by our student body, as a gift to our college, but since licensing is not a big deal in India, we did not file for a license. Also, because, it is something which is safe in the public domain, and we have no issues. If you think I should apply for a license for the image as the ex- head of the student body, please let me know as to how I should go about it. I think the best way forward would be to ask for permission via COM:OTRS from the designers of the logo, as we have to assume everything is copyrighted if not proven otherwise. Also if the image is in the public domain, than the CC-BY-SA-3.0 tag is not applicable for the logo. User:Armbrust (Local talk - en.Wikipedia talk) 09:59, 12 December 2012 (UTC)

Possible deletion of pictures added to Geoffrey Bagley page

Hi Armbrust, I can see that two pics which I have uploaded are tagged for deletion but I am not sure how to respond to that. I hope messaging you like this is ok? My rationale for assuming that the pics are ok to upload is as follows:

1. The picture of the Escort Frigate was drawn by Bagley for the Canadian War Office when he was working for them seconded to the Royal Canadian Navy from 1939 to 45. Therefore I have assumed that the copywrite holder is the Canadian Government and not Geoffrey Bagley, therefore there should be no copywrite issues in the same way that the USA Government does not copywrite its images.
2. The oil painting of the speed boat is in my personal collection. I own the painting and I own the image and picture which I have used of the painting. Therefore there are no copywrite issues there.

Sorry, but that's not enough. (1) There is no similarity between the Government works of the US and Canada. (2) That you own the paintings physically doesn't mean, that you also own the copyright for them. BTW in the meantime both images were deleted by Ronhjones (talk • contribs • blocks • protections • deletions • moves • rights • rights changes). Category:Russian billiards players auf Commons

Hi Armbrust, Ich bin gerade dabei Bilder von meinem Besuch der de:Dreiband-Weltmeisterschaft 2013 hochzuladen und zu kategorisieren. Dabei bin ich über diese Kat gestolpert. ich finde das Lemma ziemlich verwirrend. Ist zu verwechseln mit "Billiards players from Russia". Ja, damit hast du recht. Wahrscheinlich is est auch Category:English billiards players wahr. Dies sollte aber nicht ohne Diskussion geändert werden, da es die Konvention für Disziplinäre ist (siehe Category:Billiards players by discipline). You urgently need to apologise to User:Biopics for showing gross stupidity and rudeness. This is a scientific image. While balance is not a matter of taste. You insulted him by claiming the nomination was pointy and by claiming that the opinion of the expert creator had no weight, especially compared to a bunch of complete amateurs over at en:wp. If you think "Nobody needs to consult you to modify the image you uploaded" you are using legal technicalities to justify an act of gross stupidity. Commons is a repository of free educational medial. See the word "educational"? Not "free media". So the fact that the other file is no longer educational and is actually negatively educational wrt the correct colours for the animal, as judged by, doh!, the subject expert, should matter a lot. I have requested a delist-and-replace over at en:wp. You might be able to redeem yourself by re-opening the Commons deletion yourself with some grovelling remarks. Kormany.hu képek

Tulajdonképpen mi a problémád? Egyértelmű licence alapján kértem engedélyt azokra a képekre, az OTRS rostán is átment, tehát, ezáltal te 2-3 ottani szerkesztő munkáját, hozzáértését kérdőjelezed meg. A képekre egyértelműen megkaptam az engedélyt, az általam megadott licenc összes feltétele, jellemzője megtalálható volt a linkben. Főleg úgy, hogy másodjára kértem engedélyt, miután az első sikertelen volt. Tudtommal a WP valóban non-profit szervezet, ezért is siettem leszögezni, hogy nem kereskedelmi célból kívánom feltölteni a képeket. Ennyi a történet. de ti csak töröljetek mindent kedves szerkesztőtársaddal egyetemben. --Norden1990 (talk) 19:22, 27 April 2014 (UTC)

Az a probléma, hogy a kormány.hu-nak küldött levélbe beleírtad a következő feltételt: "A képek kereskedelmi forgalomba nem kerülnek, pusztán a szócikkek illusztrációjául szolgál.", ami ellentmond a CC-BY-SA-2.5 licencszenek (ezek a képek úgyanis felhasználhatóak kereskedelmi célokra is). De bárki más megteheti, aki a kép(ek)et megtalálja vagy a Wikipedia-n vagy a Commons-on, mert a Creative Commons licenc nem tiltja meg. Az OTRS kezelői is követhetnek el hibát, és úgy tűnik most ez történt. Akkor töröld, s legyen mindenki boldog. Egyébként továbbra sincs igazad, mert a jogtulaj a kormany.hu és csak a Wikipedia kapta meg az engedélyt. Ezek szerint az OTRS kezelői minden esetben tévedtek, amikor nekik továbbítottam az üzenetet (több kapcsolatfelvétel is történt, s nemcsak a kormany.hu-val). Úgy látszik a kormányzat portálja rugalmasabb, mint itt bárki. Javaslom, az összes általam feltöltött képet töröljétek, hogy írmagja se maradjon az itteni munkámnak, és kérek a profilomra is egy ban-t. Mivel a CC-BY-SA-2.5 alapján kértem a sablont (amelyhez linket is biztosítottam, ha esetleg a kormany.hu sajtóosztálya nem ismerné a szerzői jogokat... kétlem), ezért a fenti mondatod nem játszik. Hallo Armbrust! Könntest Du vielleicht das Bild mit jenem mit der geringeren Auflösung aus der Mail ersetzen? Ich habe ja kein Zugriff drauf. Es sollte vermieden werden, dass das Bild schon wieder gelöscht wird, obwohl es vom Rechteinhaber und vom Besitzer zur Nutzung gestiftet worden ist.
