Exterior[edit]

I know it would be useful because it would ease gathering support. Anyway, I still think a valued image is useful because it describes well the subject, including its main features, and many buildings have their main features outside. Then, a single main scope can describe the main features of the building as a whole.

For example, this is what we do with birds. Birds have a lot of interesting features inside, and any species have interesting anatomical distinctive characteristics in its internal organs that could be interesting scopes. Although, we don't label "exterior" the scope the external aspect of the bird.--Pere prlpz (talk) 07:59, 2 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well observed. But the birds we scope "egg" for butterflies "mounted specimen" etc ... If we are lucky enough to have one day a view of the interior of these buildings we can promote it, too. --Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 08:13, 2 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wulfenite[edit]

Do you noticed how I arranged items in Wulfenite? I do similar changes at Papilio demoleus too. Categories are very crowded and low and high quality images are mingled together so it is very difficult to find a good image from them. So I think it is good to highlight the promoted files (FPs, QIs and VIs) at the top of the gallery. Is it good? Your opinion is highly appreciated. -- Jkadavoor (Jee) (talk) 17:28, 5 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with your idea. Our friend user:Jebulon, had also proposed. It may not be necessary to make a special gallery but place the image promoted head of the Gallery where she is. for example like this: Siproeta stelenes. It is especially useful to rank the images in a Gallery, and put only good. Do not hesitate to remove the bad images that make the difficult choice. You will always find me with you for this valuable work. --Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 12:56, 6 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes; but sometimes people dump all the low quality works on the top of the gallery forcing the promoted ones down or be mingled with others. It is very difficult to delete them periodically. That is why I wish to create a sub-section "Promoted files" on top. No need of it if the gallery is small. -- Jkadavoor (Jee) (talk) 05:51, 7 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I had not thought of, but the idea is attractive because it would avoid conflicts. I think we can try in Gallery overstaffed. --Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 06:26, 7 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Cerastoderma glaucum[edit]

Dear Didier, I want to point your attention to the paper: "Brock, V., 1987. Genetic relations between the bivalves Cardium (Cerastoderma) edule, Cardium lamarcki and Cardium glaucum, studied by means of crossed immunoelectrophoresis. Marine Biology, 93: 493-498.". In this paper it is shown that Cerastoderma of the eastern Mediterranean (and the Black Sea) and of the Western Mediterranean belong to different species. This means that one of both is not Cerastoderma glaucum. Because the type location of C. glaucum is in the Western Mediterranean, the species in the east is another species. Regrettably there has not yet selected a proper name for this eastern Cerastoderma. For the time being the name of the eastern species could be: Cerastoderma glaucum non Poiret, 1789. The specimen that you figured as Cerastoderma glaucum is therefore not this species. Subsequently the figure can not be used for proper Cerastoderma glaucum (as done in the Dutch Wikipedia). Best wishes, --Tom Meijer (talk) 10:44, 8 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for this note. It is obvious that this species will deserve a new description, if only for the name of the author. We do not know who, Bruguière or Poiret has really described in 1789. For the moment it is classified in CG. It is even possible, if Bruiguiere who described, what is the reference species, as it traveled in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Black Sea. I'm looking for the original publication. --Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 12:41, 8 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
In mine opinion this is a simple case of priority. However, both authors published in the same year, so one should look at the exact date, if this is still possible. If this is not possible than one of both names (and authors) should be preserved as the valid name. This is something a specialist should do. Taxonomic online databases are not conclusive, moreover they differ in opinion. I found in the literature that the type locality is in the Western basin, however it is not clear to me if this is the case for both authors. Only a search in the original publications of both authors can shed light in this matter. I don't have the time for such an investigation.--Tom Meijer (talk) 18:39, 8 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This object is one of the most interesting we have to deToulouse Museum. I saw it when I was 6 years old, and it has always fascinated me. It has benefited from a full restoration in 2011. This is the very first image restoration. I was meeting starts at install lights before 3 flint, as seen before, have been replaced. I quickly appreçu I did not have enough light. so I'm more images by moving the lamps. It is not highly recommended. But I wanted to, absolutely, do this first image. Nearly 50 years after I still have the same emotion. --Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 05:44, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A cheval sur les principes[edit]

Salut mon ami,

Re: Graellsia isabellae[edit]

Yes; both photos of live and collected specimens are interesting and informative. I like your works. I think you remember that I opposed some people's argument to avoid featuring dead specimens in English Wikipedia. My only doubt was about the arrangements of wings that look different from a natural dorsal view. Now I understand the reason from your reply (to show the hind-wings otherwise hidden in a normal view). I appreciate your willingness to answer any doubts/silly queries with a calm voice; not many people here have it. :) -- JKadavoor Jee 04:50, 30 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I renounce and then continues, there is so much to do. But our work here and advance it is a great pleasure. --Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 09:47, 2 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I think this is Phyllomedusa vaillantii as his other similar pictures; but the common name "Monkey tree frog" is a bit confusing. Google search shows another result Sharp nose monkey tree frog (Phyllomedusa vaillanti); but I don't think another binomial name exists with only one letter difference. What you think? Advice[edit]

Archaeodontosaurus, I see you have prepared plenty of Valued and Featured images. I can hardly understand the exact meaning of Valued and Featured criteria, so I cannot see if some of my photos may be considered VI or FP. Maybe you could find a minute to explore my input and maybe tell me if something is worth to be a candidate? Thanks for you answer.--PereslavlFoto (talk) 20:13, 3 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your message which honors me. There are two very different issues. For FP, I am pleased to see my friends put me pictures before. This is fortunate because I would not dare do it myself. I became very critical for my images, to the point that I no longer in QI, the images of which I am particularly telling.
For VI is very different. This is for me the most important label. This is the one that makes the most sense. It is also one that is not acuis permanently. A photograph is successful only if it serves the encyclopedia. That is why I am always in the label VI. The rules are not very easy but you will always be well received and we help each other so that works. It is very rare that there have conflicts VI.
I looked at your pictures, I see often move in QI. You have there a very important source of labels VI.
The monuments they must have an interest in the encyclopedia: Botik-arka-4355.jpg is entirely appropriate.
For churches is even easier knowing that you can cut the scope of "Outside" "Interior" "Belltower" ... You there your biggest deposit.
In "Memorial": B-memorial-4332-08.jpg, is a very good candidate.
The halves of the panoramas are also eligible.
For individuals must that you can prove that they have encyclopedic value. It is easier if they are, does at least one article on an encyclopedia.
The quality is not a major criterion is the relevance of the topic that is most important.
I hope you have been a little helpful. Go in VI! --Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 07:50, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, the logic of VI is clearer to me now.--PereslavlFoto (talk) 08:26, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Image du jour[edit]

Salut!

An important elephant[edit]

Bonjour Didier I see the holotype of this early elephant is in Musee Toulouse [1] Sadly there is no French text and no image of what is clearly an important fossil. I think I read that there is a reconstruction somewhere in France but I am not sure where.Best regards Robert aka Notafly (talk) 20:43, 25 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It is here [2] (picture at the bottom of the page) "C'est trop cher" 20 OOO Euro and it is not Eritherium at all, but maybe it's very good. Deyrolles specimens often are.

Hello Robert,

You do not only interested butterflies. I know the discoverer of Eritherium azzouzorum and Phosphaterium esculieri, François Escullié. We are childhood friends. The holotype of Eritherium is not in Toulouse or Paris. François Esculliè donated to the Museum of Lyon. He has personally more complete fragments of Eritherium, I asked myself wearing one for a photograph, he must come to Toulouse in January. --Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 10:26, 27 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Erreur ![edit]

-- Bien cordialement. JLPC (talk) 11:45, 6 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
JLCP, is there anything I can do? Is it the closure of the set on the VIC page you are requesting help for? After all I invented this (possibly sick) system once. I have forgotten most of it, but I could try to assist. --Slaunger (talk) 11:54, 6 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Have you consider send me some words or/and a photo for your "contributor profile":

I want show to my students (and so everybody) that Animalandia is make for "real person", and I can tell them about "generosity", "share" and other similar words that they use very few...

Image in VIS not equivalent with VI[edit]

Hi Archaeodontosaurus,

I noticed you have done edits like this, replacing {{VIS}} with {{Assessments}} with a VI argument. I suggest you do not do that since an image being part of a valued image set is not the same as the image being a valued image. In the VIS template, there is a useful link to the VIS, the image is part of. You loose that information, when you integrate it into the Assessments template. The use of the Assessments template for tagging anything related to the valued image project is not something I will recommend. The VI logo and color theme is not properly integrated in Assessments, which IMO gives rise to confusion regarding project identity as it is being mixed with the colors and styles of QI and FP. I have very many times asked the creator of Assessmenst to not mix it with the VI project in any way, but with no succes, and we are now in a situation where people are confused as to what template to use (no wonder). I also think that it is a little incorrect to tag the images in the set with Category:Valued images of Venice and other Valued images...categories, as the individual images are not really VIs. Best wishes, --Slaunger (talk) 17:02, 9 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ok I understand. I chose this view because it was less ostentatious. I would correct at progressively. Thank you. --Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 17:11, 9 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Great, thanks! --Slaunger (talk) 17:32, 9 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

-- Bien cordialement. JLPC (talk) 18:06, 22 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Mon ami Didier ! Joyeux Noël ! Bonne année !

Respectueusement, Georges -- George Chernilevsky talk 21:40, 24 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Commented here. Long story short: I think that, while this is the best in the scope "Xylophanes guianensis", I don't think "Xylophanes guianensis (mounted specimen)" is a valid scope. Adam Cuerden (talk) 07:50, 25 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No. In entomology to describe a butterfly it must be mounted form. But this is not the physiological position of rest, found in nature. Especially the lower wings in this family are covered. There in place for two images. On the one hand the form mounted and the other an image in vivo that we have not yet but will happen. This is a debate that we had in VI. Again your actions are inappropriate and vexatious. Take the time to learn before. If you have a question, it is easy to ask and get an answer courteous. It is possible that you are not a gentleman. --Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 08:05, 25 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

MrPanyGoff ?[edit]

Bonsoir mon ami.
bien à toi, --Jebulon (talk) 00:42, 27 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

JLPC (talk) 17:30, 31 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
