A question

Hi Alison,
I hope not to offend you by my question, but I was actually looking for the opinion of a female admin colleague about this Image:179802599 f3e8bc8853 b.jpg. In addition to being uploaded by a problematic uploader[1], the image violates the personality rights of the depicted woman, IMHO. As I might be too sensitive or have my own bias, I would like to hear anothers' opinion. Thanks. (And, yes, I'm the one mentioned 2 paragraphs above. In the end I got along well with ChristianMan16, though the image is still on rfd.) --Túrelio (talk) 20:55, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

Replied on your talk page. Thanks for bringing this up. And I'm glad yourself and Aaron sorted out the above kerfuffle :) He's not the worst at all - Alison 21:18, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your feedback. I've also notified Durova, and started a rfd here. --Túrelio (talk) 21:28, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. I've weighed in on the deletion request - Alison 21:29, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
Alison, thanks for your commitment in this case, though the rfd will probably be rejected. May be I was oversensitive.
Thank you for defending me in this little quarrel with mattbuck, something that is seen far too rarely here on Commons, despite this recommendation.
And finally I have to clear up a slight (and unimportant IMHO) misunderstanding on your part: I'm male; the "colleague" in my first line above was meant to refer to admin. --Túrelio (talk) 06:39, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

Question

Hi, Alison. I'm a newbiw and not accustomed to copyright policy in Commons. Can I upload this logo[2] here that is owned by a university of Korea ? I heard simply textlogo may be not copyrighted. But I cannot be sure so I ask you. Thanks in advance. --Abc123 (talk) 03:41, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

Thank you!

Thank you very much for supporting me in my successful RfB. If you ever need anything, please don't hesitate to ask. Cheers, Rocket000(talk) 21:57, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

Doppelganger accounts

Is it possible to create the account 1990hornet on enWP as a Doppelganger account to prevent further impersonation of me. I use the name on several other places (like YouTube) and I don't want to give the chance of being impersonated by it.--   ChristianMan16  19:46, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

All ✓ Done - Alison 05:14, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
Is there any way you can use the following code instead of that sock template....because it's not a sock. Here's the code:

Thanks.--   ChristianMan16  19:48, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

I'd love to, but your code is really b0rk'd. Can you put it somewhere - like on a subpage on sewiki or something? - Alison 19:54, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

Well. i want it there because that account isn't really a sock.--   ChristianMan16  20:00, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

Sure, but I'm not going to fix your dodgy wikicode. I'm too busy writing other kinds of code. Besides, if it ever comes to unban, I'll speak up about it. The logs (create, block and userpage) explain what's going on - Alison 20:06, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
That code is lovely. :D--   ChristianMan16  20:07, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
Plus I copied it and edited it from here.--   ChristianMan16  20:09, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

*sigh* - dude, you're killing me here. Ok, I've fixed it and put it live. There ya go :) - Alison 20:16, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

Sorry for almost killin' ya. Wasn't tryin' to. It just looked bad to me marked as a sock, especially when it wasn't.--   ChristianMan16  20:45, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
Thanks!!!!--   ChristianMan16  20:50, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
No problem. And please!!! Fix your sig - it's icky beyond words. The blue and red are impossible to see, and the block is getting split across page lines - Alison 21:00, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
It's orange and blue and it's for the Florida Gators...I can see it fine. But I'll see what I can so.--   ChristianMan16  21:12, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

MacBook

Thanks for the photograph of the new MacBook. edward (talk) 20:56, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

Glad to help :) Give me a few hours and I should have a full set of better, clearer ones - Alison 21:04, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

OTRS check

Hi Alison, could you kindly check whether the Image:CDSidebarsCover.jpg (undeleted my me) has indeed received a permission at OTRS, under the alleged [Ticket#2008101510054774] as claimed by User:EricaSt. Thanks. --Túrelio (talk) 10:32, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi Túrelio. Yes, it's been released by it's owner under the GFDL, so everything's okay there - Alison 22:48, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
I've just templated the image, just to be certain :) - Alison 22:52, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. --Túrelio (talk) 19:59, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

Is this the same person, do you think?

Hi Alison! I ran across some uploads from 22 October 2006 by Rolandc73 (talk · contribs) that seemed like copyvios at first glance, then I noticed that his username is very similar to the owner of the credited website [3]. Then I noticed that on 25 October 2006 Terraprints (talk · contribs) uploaded a bunch of images from the same site, but most of these images have OTRS tickets. Several of the images that were uploaded in the first batch have been deleted already,[4] which is a darn shame if we actually have permission. I'm hoping the existing OTRS ticket might help to clarify matters. Thanks! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 06:39, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi Elipongo. While I'm also almost certain that Rolandc73 (talk · contribs) is the same person, I'm going to follow up on the OTRS ticket just to be certain. I'll let you know when we get a response - Alison 20:51, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
Thanks! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 21:20, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Hello!

Well, fancy meeting you here! Can you do me a favour and check an OTRS ticket? This one. I'd like to know who the picture is supposed to be attributed to, if you have a minute. No desperate rush. Angus McLellan (Talk) 23:44, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

Heyya Angus :) Ok, the ticket is a general permission for images taken from http://www.armeniadiaspora.com. No license is specified, but a link to ArmeniaDiaspora.com is required as attribution. That's about all there is in the ticket, really. It's kinda sparse - Alison 10:38, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
Thanks! All the best, Angus McLellan (Talk) 12:37, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
