Autopatrol given

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. -- ~riley (talk) 04:24, 28 October 2019 (UTC)

Hi OxonAlex, you're now a filemover. When moving files please respect the following advice:

  • Use the CommonsDelinker link in the {{Rename}} template to order a bot to replace all ocurrences of the old title with the new one. Or, if there was no rename-request, please use the Move & Replace-tab.
  • Please leave a redirect behind unless you have a valid reason not to do so. Other projects, including those using InstantCommons, might be using the file even though they don't show up in the global usage. Deleting the redirects would break their file references. Please see this section of the file rename guideline for more information.
  • Please know and follow the file rename guidelines.

I disagree. IMO only minor problems (verticals), easily fixable. --Tsungam 16:25, 30 October 2019 (UTC) Sorry, I must have clicked the wrong button in the QIVoter helper.--Peulle 20:53, 30 October 2019 (UTC)

Important message for file movers

A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.

Possible acceptable uses of this ability:

  • To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
  • To perform file name swaps.
  • When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)

Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.

The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning. Questions regarding this right should be directed to administrators. --Majora (talk) 21:36, 7 November 2019 (UTC)

British Army 2020

Why was this file moved? File:UK Army 2020.png?? This is NOT the British Army in 2016, but the British Army as planned in the Army 2020 reform! Which was followed by the Army 2020 Refine reform, the graphic of which is here: File:UK Army 2018.png. There is a long detailed article about these reforms on the English wiki: en:Future of the British Army (Army 2020 Refine). This graphic has nothing to do with the British Army structure that was in actual in 2016. Please move it back to its correct name. Noclador (talk) 13:20, 13 December 2019 (UTC)

✓ Done - please update the file description. ~~ OxonAlex - talk 13:29, 13 December 2019 (UTC)
Updated the description. Thank you for your speedy reaction. Best regards, Noclador (talk) 13:35, 13 December 2019 (UTC)

Thames Travel 513

Thankyou for donating your photo of one of Thames Travel's new Enviro200s. I hope you do not mind my expanding the caption, adding a category and a few keys. Category:Thames Travel (bus company), for example, is organised in order of fleet number.

But please tell me why File:20191030-Thames-Travel-513.jpg and File:20191030-Thames-Travel-513 (cropped).jpg are in Category:E. If there is a logical reason, I am too dim to see it. Please help me to understand!

Thanks Motacilla (talk) 17:12, 7 March 2020 (UTC)

Motacilla, I really have no idea why. I assume I was searching for enviro on hotcat, and managed to leave it there somehow.
I've been meaning to get a better picture of those Connector enviros; I just put those on to fill in the table on en:Thames Travel - Old Road isn't the best location for pictures, given its surrounded by trees, and doesn't have particularly wide footpaths either.

Congratulations, dear license reviewer

If you use the helper scripts, you will find the links next to the search box (vector) or as single tabs (monobook). They are named license+ and license-.

Hi Alex Noble, thanks for your request for license reviewer status. The request has been closed as successful, and you've been added to the list of reviewers. You can now start reviewing files – please see Commons:License review and Commons:Flickr files if you haven't done so already. We also have a guide how to detect copyright violations. Potential backlogs include Flickr review and files from other sources. You can use one of the following scripts by adding one of the lines to your common.js:

mw.loader.load('//commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:ZooFari/licensereviewer.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript'); // stable script for reviewing images from any kind of source OR
mw.loader.load('//commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Majora/LicenseReview.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript'); // contains also user notification when review fails, auto blacklist-check and auto-thank you message for Flickr-reviews.

Important: thou shalt not review thy own uploads, nor those of anyone closely related to you!

Please feel free to join us on IRC: #wikimedia-commons webchat on irc.freenode.net. You can also add {{User license reviewer}} to your user page if you wish. Thank you for your contributions on Commons! --T CellsTalk 18:28, 20 April 2020 (UTC)

Can this be deleted under copyright? The image was taken from this website [1]. CAPTAIN MEDUSA (talk) 19:53, 29 April 2020 (UTC)

CAPTAIN MEDUSA; Yes. I tend to prefer {{No permission since}} rather than {{Copyvio}}, as it usually gives the same end result, but assumes a bit more good faith, but both tags would apply, the only difference being the no permission tag having a 7 day timer. ~~ Alex Noble - talk 20:10, 29 April 2020 (UTC)

Hey bro, yes you can delete it I completely forgot about how the program was still copyrighted, I uploaded the image because the video was a CC. But yes you can delete it. TheBellaTwins1445 (talk) 16:19, 30 April 2020 (UTC)
