Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Danke nochmal fürs Einstellen der PDF. Bei der Seitenangabe Seiten 94 bis 117 habe ich mich übrigens leider verhauen, da die Seite 117 der SLUB-Datei die Seite 106 des Zeitschriftenbandes wiedergibt. Hallo, was soll deine Revert meiner Bearbeitung bedeuten? Meine Bearbeitung ist eine wesentliche Verbesserung, vor allem Kategorien. Außerdem bei der Abbildung soll man den ihren Autor angeben und nicht den Autor des Werks, in dem die Abbildung wiedergegeben wurde. Falls Kleinigkeiten trotzdem sein sollte, dann kannst du sie korrigieren und nicht alles revertieren. Mewa767 (talk) 01:03, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Nun war dieses Bild Teil des Buches "Beschreibung des Oberamts Tübingen". Richtig ist, dass der Künstler unbekannt ist. Deine "wesentliche Verbesserung" führt aber leider auch dazu, dass das Buch nun unvollständig ist. Außerdem führt der jetzige Dateiname und die Dateiinfo zu der irrigen Annahme, das Bild sei 1643 entstanden, was nicht stimmt. Es ist relativ leicht festzustellen, dass die Ansicht frühestens Anfang des 19. Jh. entstanden sein kann. Das legt die Vermutung nahe, die Abbildung könnte für dieses Buch angefertigt worden sein. --9xl (talk) 07:36, 15 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Für das Buch Beschreibung des Oberamts Tübingen gibt es Category:Beschreibung des Oberamts Tübingen und das Bild gehört zu dieser Kategorie, also deine Behauptung, dass das Buch nun unvollständig wäre, nicht richtig ist. Du schreibst, dass das Bild frühestens Anfang des 19. Jh. entstanden sein kann. Woher diese Annahme? --Mewa767 (talk) 11:57, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
