Template talk:VN/title
I just realised that while my main concern is how to best title this Template in German this problem is leading me to one more question - is 'Vernacular Names' only correct for plants/animals or can it used as well for traducing such articles as echecs or clouds? --Anna reg (talk) 19:50, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- This template is meant only for biology, but the meaning of this term may apply to other fields as well. In English, a synonym would be "common names". This is different than "translations" or "in other languages" because it means any non-scientific name, not simply a localized name. It seems that in German it would be "Vernakularname". - The scientific terms are Trivialname or Vernakularname. But both terms are just that, scientific terms. So we need a vernacular name for Vernakularname. "Name in Landessprachen" is not good. The word "Landessprache" only makes sense if it relates to a land. That's not the case here. Perhaps just "Name in verschiedenen Sprachen". --Slomox (talk) 23:31, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi,
I asked on different wiki a translation page for Vernacular names:
