Shortcut not displayed

[edit]

I tried adding a shortcut to ☭:CENSORSHIP, but it is not displayed. Paradoctor (talk) 16:12, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Try Shortcut2. --The Evil IP address (talk) 19:14, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That did the trick, thank you. Paradoctor (talk) 20:47, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Editprotected Please wikilink the shortcut(s).   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 12:09, 6 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

+1 – because that would be a convenient way to check whether the shortcut actually exists. Even better would be if the template issued a warning in preview mode if the shortcut doesn't exist, and in that case display nothing in "working mode". -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 23:38, 11 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Language parameter

[edit]

Editprotected

Please make possible to fix language (i.e. make it interface language independent) of the link using |lang= with:

<span id="shortcut" class="coordinates" style="white-space:nowrap;">{{Shortcut text|lang={} }}{{colon|lang={} }}{}{{#if:{}| · {}}}{{#if:{}| · {}}}{{#if:{}| · {}}}</span><noinclude>Documentation</noinclude>

Thanks in advance! —Tacsipacsi (talk) 16:52, 11 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Edit request Can you please put a colon : in front of every numerical parameter so that the link is escaped?

I think because CAT is now recognised as a short for category, CAT:XXXX is no longer a shortcut link but seen as a category, so it has to be escaped by coding :{}, :{}, etc. See CAT:LRV for example.--Roy17 (talk) 08:32, 31 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Roy17: ✓ Done, although I don’t know why is it worth having category shortcuts that can’t directly redirect to the category pages… —Tacsipacsi (talk) 12:09, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Use

Edit request

Please apply Special:Diff/577096482 in order to include the redirect=no URL parameter when linking to redirect pages, this is to match redirects, and shortcut2. — ExE Boss (talk) 11:15, 27 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@TKsdik8900, @ExE Boss - What is purpose of this update? IMHO, these templates, generally, should be lead to destinations through redirects. Who and why needs visiting to redirect pages??? --Kaganer (talk) 12:13, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This template is for displaying redirect page(s) to the page where it was inserted. Let me explain more concretely; Commons:Licensing uses this template. If the two shortcut links on the page link to each redirect page with automatic redirection, clicking on them will automatically take you back to the page you were on, namely Commons:Licensing. Therefore, since this template is not intended to present shortcuts to other pages, it would be sensible to make the contents of redirect pages visible without automatic redirection. In fact, this system is adopted on many Wikimedia Projects, including the English Wikipedia (see here). --TKsdik8900 (talk) 13:55, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
