Confusion with Move[edit]

Editprotected

To avoid that this template is confused with Move and used in category namespace (e.g. [1][2][3]), please make these changes by updating it with Template_talk:Move_cat/rev. This is similar to the change already made on Template:Rename. - -- User:Docu (talk) / en:User:Docu (talk) at 13:38, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

✓ Done. Regards, -- ChrisiPK (Talk|Contribs) 20:39, 9 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Output more info =[edit]

Editprotected

To output more information, please update the template with Template_talk:Move_cat/rev1. Thanks. -- User:Docu at 12:52, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

✓ Done. --The Evil IP address (talk) 01:47, 27 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Prepare for rename right[edit]

Editprotected In order to work with the rename right (see COM:AN#Implementation of rename right), please add the following string somewhere in the template (just make sure it's not within the noinclude area): <span style="display:none">Move {} to {}</span>. The link will not be shown, but the abuse filter reads it. Thanks, --The Evil IP address (talk) 16:03, 13 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have some slight concerns about urlencode's habbit of replacing spaces with + signs. I'm not sure how the abusefilter and the bot will handle that. I think either Multichill or Siebrand will have to take a look at this. TheDJ (talk) 23:05, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Request Suspended. Commons doesn't have relevant abuse filter and the request stayed over 2 months. – Kwj2772 (msg) 08:23, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

{}[edit]

editprotected

To display an explanation for the move, please add the following to the template, after "entries)":

<small>{}</small>

It's not used by the bot, but can help users evaluate the request. Thanks. -- User:Docu at 07:25, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

✓ Done (As an optional parameter.) --Mormegil (talk) 14:39, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Small wording change[edit]

editprotected

Please change "Rename :Category:{} as :Category:{}" to "Rename :Category:{} to :Category:{}" — "rename X to Y" is more natural wording than is "rename X as Y". Nyttend (talk) 02:48, 25 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Great improvement Rocket000[edit]

Thank you. --Foroa (talk) 09:21, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

My pleasure. :) Rocket000 (talk) 09:59, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Link to the discussion page[edit]

A link to the category discussion page should be added to the template output. At least, it will be directly visible whether the link is red (empty discussion) or blue (to check). --ŠJů (talk) 23:18, 26 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

editprotected

The simplest treatment would be to replace

({{PAGESINCAT:{}}} entries moved, {{PAGESINCAT:{}}} to go)

with

(discussion, {{PAGESINCAT:{}}} entries moved, {{PAGESINCAT:{}}} to go)

(I hope I didn't make an error.) --ŠJů (talk) 23:02, 28 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is a command template for a bot. Why do we need this? Rocket000 (talk) 00:44, 29 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Because it's used on User_talk:CommonsDelinker/commands#Category_moves?  Docu  at 05:07, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
✓ Done sorta. I just add a (talk) link after the category name if it exists. Rocket000 (talk) 20:55, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request[edit]

Please update this with /update. It re-adds a string used by my bot that had been removed when it was inactive and expands the edit summary. --  Docu  at 08:57, 7 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You haven't linked to the bot or provided an explanation for what it does or why it needs this string. This template was being used by User:SieBot. – Adrignola talk 13:34, 9 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It displays a string I copy and paste, e.g. when SieBot is down (e.g. now). It doesn't affect SieBot. --  Docu  at 17:03, 9 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
✓ Done. – Adrignola talk 18:02, 16 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Editprotected

The most recent edit has incorrectly eliminated a space between "(0 entries moved, 13 to go)" and the comment that is added by a requester. — Cheers, JackLee talk 17:02, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't seem to work. See "User talk:CommonsDelinker/commands" – the template now displays "(19 entries moved, 0 to go)To match parent category." There used to be a space between the closing parenthesis and the comment. — Cheers, JackLee talk 13:39, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, sorry. I know a bit of MediaWiki code but it may be best if Adrignola takes this one on, since Adrignola made the previous change. Powers (talk) 20:06, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
✓ Done. The <br> doesn't separate the elements, because it is contained in a <span>, which isn't displayed. Regards, -- ChrisiPK (Talk|Contribs) 15:01, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! — Cheers, JackLee talk 11:38, 26 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"Reason" parameter not working[edit]

Edit request For some reason, the template no longer displays reasons to be added for requests, whether they are inserted using |reason= or placed in position {}. Could someone please look into this? — Cheers, JackLee talk 19:46, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed {} Don't know why Rocket000 (talk · contribs) inserted this strange switch. The reason-thing seems to be for admins only. -- RE rillke questions? 19:19, 3 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I meant to include the template page (and doc) itself in the switch for demonstration purposes. Wasn't thinking when I used FULLPAGENAME... The switch was to avoid having a default generic reason appended if a real reason was supplied (|reason=). Rocket000 (talk) 18:15, 4 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request Reasons are not visible again. --ŠJů (talk) 00:15, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Seems to be OK. --ŠJů (talk) 19:19, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request this is broken again. sısɐuuǝɔıʌ∀ (diskuto) 01:34, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Not done sısɐuuǝɔıʌ∀, I think this is as designed "reason" is used to show in edit summary of the final edit, but is not displayed when the template is transcluded. --Jarekt (talk) 21:11, 9 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request The reason should be displayed. It is fundamentally more relevant than the proposer's name. --ŠJů (talk) 01:40, 23 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

✓ Done Only the synonyme paramter name was missing. -- User: Perhelion 11:44, 5 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please remove dialog box[edit]

This year, I moved 12000 categories, so I spend a fair part of my time clicking like a zombie on deletion icons. I don't really need an additional dialog box to waste even more time. --Foroa (talk) 07:46, 3 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Since there was no reaction and the direct delete does not work anymore, I will stop wasting my time on cleaning out category moves. --Foroa (talk) 06:23, 4 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The direct delete link only shows up when used on User:CommonsDelinker/commands, a fully protected page, so I don't think there's any risk, which I'm assuming was the reason for the change. I also didn't keep {} inside {reason} for the same reason. Admins should fill out reason themselves if they want to append the default summary (not the requester). Rocket000 (talk) 00:20, 10 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, so wait, how is it working for you now (I saw you mention on your talk page)? It doesn't work for me even with the gadget. Both trashcan links are the same, the only difference being some extra text in the summary. Rocket000 (talk) 00:30, 10 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Works now better than ever (See User_talk:Foroa#Gadget_autodel - I've set the suggested autoconfirm in my .js). To me the first deletion icon is redundant but I never used it anyway. --Foroa (talk) 06:19, 10 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Deletion via URL is evil. This was not a problem of the template but of the gadget. MediaWiki is using tokens and the like to prevent such behavior. Recently, even a token is required for uploading. Drive-by-uploads are less serious than drive-by-deletions, I think.
If you like it, you can use it the old way (added the missing params for it back). Using the new autodel, don't open the green litter box in a new tab. Just click on it.
Whether you want {} in there or not is your decision.
I am sorry for the delay, I didn't watch this page. If something does not work, let me know. Thank you. -- Rillke(q?) 16:03, 10 July 2012 (UTC
What do you mean by "drive-by-deletions"? If MediaWiki is trying to prevent the behaviour, what exactly was the url paramater created for? I thought the concern was simply admins not paying attention to what they're clicking. In this case, the link is supposed to delete the target page. The edit summary is only thing I can think of that may be unintended. Nothing misleading about the action though. (I'm just asking to understand better. The template is fine now that I see the gadget's customizable.) Rocket000 (talk) 19:16, 10 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Older browsers that may not pay attention to the x-frame-options-header properly could be affected by a hidden iframe-attac while browsing external sites. It is also possible that you open a link in a new tab not checking what you really opened there and the Commons-logo is gone. -- Rillke(q?) 09:05, 12 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

user[edit]

As far as I understand it, the user parameters requires a plain-text username, not a signature. Nevertheless, this parameter doesn't have any effects on the visual output of this template. Is it an intended behaviour (or maybe I'm just not an administrator)? --Djadjko (talk) 21:28, 17 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Djadjko, yes plain, I updated the doc. The name should visible for everyone, if you use the named "user" parameter. There is indeed also a unnamed parameter 4, which will indeed not displayed or recognize, but only changes the error msg. -- User: Perhelion 12:21, 5 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Die Kategorie „Category:The Night Evelyn Came Out of the Grave“ sollte auf der Seite "Hartmut Kaminski" gelöscht werden - oder als Unterseite in "Stumme Schreie" umbenannt werden.[edit]

Momentan beinhaltet die Seite "The Night Evelyn Came Out of the Grave“ Fotos aus dem Film "Stumme Schreie" von Hartmut Kaminski und Elke Jonigkeit". Eigentlich wollte ich eine weitere Unterseite "Stumme Schreie" einrichten, in der dann diese Fotos gezeigt werden. Es wäre nett, wenn einer von euch das bewerkstelligen könnte - alle meine Versuche führen nur zu mehr Chaos. Vielen Dank und liebe Grüße, Kajo2019--Kajo2019 (talk) 12:19, 27 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
