LangSwitch no longer works[edit]

{{Editprotected}} LangSwitch was used to pass the language code parameter in its "uselang=" parameter:

{{LangSwitch|uselang={{{lang|{{uselang}}}}}
...

But it is no longer supported by the current module, so this line of the template should be changed in now to:

{{LangSwitch|lang={{{lang|{{uselang}}}}}
...

Thanks to admins, for unblocking or making this small change. Without it, the result only depends on the user UI language taken automatically by default by the module, and not the requested language.

This is demonstrated in the examples shown at end of the documentation (they all return the same string, appropriate for the current user language). You should see the differences.

“Romance spacing” is NOT a thing in Romance languages. Only French, Occitan and Breton use *French* spacing.[edit]

{{Edit request}} Only these three languages I’ve mentioned have a written tradition of putting a (thin) space before a colon and other double punctuation marks. I can recall some Spanish-language books from my uni library using that spacing as well, but they were printed in the 1880s. The space now looks ridiculous in Spanish descriptions. It’s just wrong; remove it. —Born2bgratis (talk) 03:46, 4 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

 Not done Could you please make it cleaner what you wish template editors to do here? --Martin Urbanec (talk) 15:24, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Spanish was added by verdy_p. Could you please explain why you think it’s used in languages like Spanish, Italian, Latin and even non-Romance ones like Czech, Belorussian or Hungarian? In Hungarian, it disappeared in the second half of the 20th century; I found a tiny space before colons in a book published as late as in the 1980s, but in no 21st-century ones. (Not all of these languages were added in the edit I linked, but all of them were added by you.) —Tacsipacsi (talk) 12:59, 8 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Use Lua module[edit]

{{Edit request}} I've implemented this template in Lua so it's accessible from other Lua modules directly (and IMO is easier to work with). Based on {{Colon/sandbox}}, everything seems to be working as intended. Could the contents of this template be edited to the following?

{{#invoke:Colon|colon}}<noinclude>{{documentation}}</noinclude>
