"Institution" parameter

A lot of 3D artworks are not in "institutions", but in public places or in situ in churches, temples, ruins... Should not we change the name and description of this parameter to take this fact into account? Maybe we should also create specific template(s) for in situ locations? Institution was also called "museum" and "gallery" but "institution" seems more generic. Churches, temples, ruins can be "institutions" (and have {{Institution}} templates) but middle of the city definitely is not. I think we have to do the most generic name which is still meaningful even if does not fit 100% of situations. --Jarekt (talk) 15:04, 30 October 2015 (UTC)
Maybe we could just change the documentation. Presently it just states: "Gallery, museum or collection owning the piece." BrightRaven (talk) 16:02, 30 October 2015 (UTC)
Feel free to change the documentation. we could have "Gallery, museum, collection, church, template or other institution owning the piece". We also have location/department parameter which ends up in the same box. we could use it for artworks in public places. --Jarekt (talk) 16:42, 30 October 2015 (UTC)
I tested it, but it seems the content of "location" parameter does not appear if "institution" is empty. So I think "institution" should also be used for artworks in public places (streets, squares...). BrightRaven (talk) 08:08, 2 November 2015 (UTC)
There was a bug in template:Artwork which I just fixed. Location/department parameter should show up now without "institution". Thanks for reporting this observation. --Jarekt (talk) 15:25, 2 November 2015 (UTC)
I have changed the description of the "location" parameter. I think we can think of 2 situations:
  1. The artwork is in an institution (museum, gallery, church, private collection...): the institution parameter contains the data about the institution (with Institution: template if it exits) and the location parameter contains some information about the place of the artwork inside the institution.
  2. The artwork is not in an institution (it is in a public place: street, square, park...): the institution parameter is empty and the location parameter contains the information about the location (basically: street, city, country). BrightRaven (talk) 15:50, 6 November 2015 (UTC)
