Parameters

Parameter Description Example Notes
name the name of this map's area as written on the map sheet
  • sometimes maps of the same area were renamed in consecutive years
  • try to use the same name for maps of the same area, e.g. by selecting the name used last in a chronological series of same area maps
Blüchertal
id the record id the institution or the person uses, that the image is from, if any
  • might be a unique identifier linking the image to a physical original
df_dk_0010001_4669_1932a
gridy the y-position of the sheet in the grid
  • earlier maps of the same area might have been associated to another grid, hence the yx-position printed in the sheet might not reflect the one used by id
  • even earlier maps e.g. Äquidistantenkarten have been numbered one-dimensionally, without using a grid, e.g. from 1 up to the 150s - if they can be matched to a later Messtischblatt, use the latest, succeeding grid identifiers
  • try to use the same xy-position for maps of the same area, e.g. by using the xy-position given by id
46
  • used to cross-check parameter id in case from=Deutsche Fotothek
  • the check maybe disabled using check=no, see below
gridx the x-position of the sheet in the grid 69
year the redactional year as printed on the sheet
  • some sheets carry more than one year, e.g. when the data was recorded, revised, printed, published
  • for Deutsche Fotothek sources, prefer the year given by id, unless it's obviously wrong
i.e. if there are typos in the number and it contradicts the values used in the sheet
  • if the year is not a part of id then use the latest year printed on the map sheet
1932
rev usually empty. rarely an extra, one letter, suffix is used to indicate
  • a sheet was scanned a second time
  • two sheets of the same year were available
  • another obscurity with the sheet
a
check optional. use check=no to disable template internal cross-checking of id
  • use if there is a deliberate mismatch between id and the four parameters gridy, gridx, year, rev
from optional. where the image is from
  • if id starts with df_dk it might be omitted as Deutsche Fotothek is deducted automatically
Deutsche Fotothek
early_prussian optional. early prussian sequential number of an early pre-grid numbering system
  • printed on sheets from between 1830 and 1869, the first prussian land survey
prussian optional. prussian sequential number of an older pre-grid numbering system
  • printed on sheets from between 1870 and 1937, the second prussian land survey
  • before 1937 sheets were numbered from west to east, starting in the north, leaving no gaps for missing tiles
2707
saxon optional. the saxon sequential number of the sheet, found in e.g. Äquidistantenkarten
place optional. place name known today, usually the same as for parameter name
  • the historical name= might be outdated for several reasons
  • if the historical name= is still used to reference the area, leave empty
else choose a place name that describes this map's area today
Zawonia (or Złotów, or Czeszów)
crop optional. use crop=yes to indicate that this is a cropped version, extracted from a larger original. the indication is currently used for sorting purposes within categories.
  • hint: you may use Template:extracted image within the description page of the original image to link a cropped image version to its original. Typically the field other_versions is used for this.
collage optional. use collage=yes to indicate that this file has been stitched together from more than one full map sheet images. this may mean that the template is used more than once on the same wiki page. the indication is currently used for sorting purposes within categories. this is the opposite of crop=yes, so either one of both should be used, but not both at the same time.
