@Incnis Mrsi: vos méthode traduit 2 à 3 langues maximum, de plus le chapitre 2: Photographie panoramique alors que c'est "le détroit de gibraltar ? les templates sont valable pour les expressions comme "view of ..." ou encore pour les conjonctions comme "And" ou ":" ({{Colon}}), mais pour les éléments existant dans wikidata, c'est totalement inutile. De plus, les titres des chapitre sont aux singulier, pourquoi mettre du pluriel ? Aussi, il y a des centaines voir des milliers de titre à traduir et dans toutes les langues. La méthode peut traduire toutes les langues encodées en le modèle + celons Wikidata (v. {{Map}}{{Maps}}). La proposition n’est pas ma proposition, actuellement. Pas d’opinion sur {{Panoramics}} vs un autre. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 14:40, 27 January 2018 (UTC)

(Sorry to switching to English, my French is not good enough) I find it illogical to have singular headings in a map like "Map" or "Harbour", this sounds as if there was only one Harbour at the Mediterranean Sea. It makes perfect sense for me to use {{Label}} for proper names, like "Strait of Gibraltar" or "Suez Canal", but not for headings like "Ports", "Maps", "Trees", "Castles" and other categories of objects. --Reinhard Müller (talk) 08:59, 28 January 2018 (UTC)

I’d not say there is a consensus. But:

Now I wait further 24 hours for the {{label}} “faction” (one-man army, eh?) to open a discussion in any venue they deem reasonable. If no kind of appeal to broader community will be done in time, then I’ll proceed with replacement of {{label|Q4006|link=-|capitalization=ucfirst}} with {{Maps}} and will use the rollback feature against Camulogene77’s warring. There's no more debate: {{LangSwitch/sandbox|...}} now allows specifying plurals where needed in some languages (including in English), and use these plurals as well for other languages using these languages, and the "default=" can find all missing translations from Wikidata labels. {{LangSwitch/sandbox|...}} can be later easily changed to {{LangSwitch|...}} once the new code in Module:Fallback/sandbox will have been integrated into Module:Fallback by an admin (and it is easy to track pages that were prepared using {{LangSwitch/sandbox|...}}, and edit them to only remove "/sandbox").

So take this waiting time to conduct more tests using {{LangSwitch/sandbox|...}} instead of the "#switch:" parserfunction (you just need to replace "#switch:" by "LangSwitch|" and "#default=" by "default=" and you can drop the HTML comments between parameters as they are never needed after named parameters (all parameters for {{LangSwitch/sandbox|...}} or {{LangSwitch|...}} are named, it uses no positional or explicitly numbered parameters, but this was also true for all parameters of "#switch:" where such comments within the switch just obscures the code). verdy_p (talk) 22:21, 18 February 2018 (UTC)

Note: you can also ask for adding a "plural" property in Wikidata items like "Map" so that "Label" can find them, instead of using the default labels (where plurals are only recognized within the list of known aliases, but completely left unqualified, so these aliases are unusable).

Wikidata has already defined properties to specify grammatical variants (which can also be translated, using a "language" qualifier whose value is a language code) !

But note that for these labels, the term "plural" is not appropriate: in most cases, the plural is not counted with a definite number, and the correct term is "collective". Languages that have singulative/collective will use the "collective" grammatical number (in Russian and other Slavic languages, there's usually no well defined "collective" but it is the same as its "plural" form, normally valid only above 5 for measured items but uses also for uncounted/unmeasured quantities, including 1 or 0); those languages that only have "singular/plural" forms, or additional "dual/trial/quadrial/paucal" forms (Slavic languages) car safely use the "plural" form as a fallback for unmeasured quantities. Those that have only a singular (Asian languages) can use the default label and won't find anything for explicit search in Wikidata properties for "collective" or "plural" forms. verdy_p (talk) 22:25, 18 February 2018 (UTC)
