Note: not functional in Commons

This was transwikied from en:Module:Authority control.

Most functionality depends on Wikidata. As Wikidata isn't available yet on Commons, only locally added data is visible. --  Docu  at 08:19, 1 March 2014 (UTC)

I know, I am getting ready. I might replace the current template and disable the wikidata part for time being. --Jarekt (talk) 03:01, 2 March 2014 (UTC)

Synching with Wikisource?

Even though this isn't active yet, do you want new authorities added here when they are added at Wikisource? I've been updating the Wikisource version with authority control from Wikidata and there are quite a few more now. If so, I was wondering if I should add stuff here and you can delete/comment out the bits you don't want or should I propose additions somewhere? Also, are you only interested in authority control for people? (Wikisource's version technically covers books and subjects as well, although those aren't fully implemented in practice.) - AdamBMorgan (talk) 00:57, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

Feel free to add any IDs used on Wikidata. --Jarekt (talk) 01:16, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

Error message

See error message her and other places: Lua error in Module:Authority_control at line 267: attempt to index local 'P' (a nil value). -- Geagea (talk) 23:25, 12 July 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for heads up. I forgot to update Module:Authority control/conf with the latest update. --Jarekt (talk) 02:56, 13 July 2016 (UTC)

Typo

The Russian State Library is abbreviated as "RLS" instead of "RSL" (e.g. in Category:Nickolay Fedorovich Arendt). Fix, please. -- Sergey kudryavtsev (talk) 08:23, 16 February 2017 (UTC)

✓ Done and  Thank you. --Jarekt (talk) 12:45, 16 February 2017 (UTC)

ORCID - https

Please convert ORCID links to use https instead of http. Andy Mabbett (talk) 13:14, 16 February 2017 (UTC)

Wikidata Qid - the only identifier linked but not displayed

For all identifiers linked by the template, except Wikidata, the name and the identifier is shown. For Wikidata only the Wikidata logo is shown. Is it possible to display at least the Qid? 92.227.39.203 12:46, 29 September 2017 (UTC)

Support --Marsupium (talk) 12:20, 3 October 2018 (UTC)

From what it appears, accessing a URL of the form http://d-nb.info/gnd/$1 generates a 301 (Moved Permanently) redirect to an HTTPS version of the URL which then generates two additional redirects to other HTTPS URLs. For example, accessing http://d-nb.info/gnd/119408643 generates a 301 redirect to https://d-nb.info/gnd/119408643 which generates a 303 redirect to https://d-nb.info/gnd/119408643/about/html which generates a 302 redirect to https://portal.dnb.de/opac.htm?method=simpleSearch&cqlMode=true&query=idn%3D119408643. As such, it would seem useful to have the Authority control module generate GND links of the form https://d-nb.info/gnd/$1 in order to reduce the number of redirects and, more importantly, to provide increased privacy and security for users. Thanks. --Gazebo (talk) 07:16, 8 November 2017 (UTC)

@Jarekt: Any thoughts on this? --Gazebo (talk) 01:38, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
Gazebo, all the links used by the template are cashed versions of what is found on Wikidata (page Module:Authority control/conf is automatically generated and copied from Template:Authority control/IdentifierList which pulls the data from Wikidata) in case of GND the link is stored and copied from d:Property:P227. So the best thing would be to propose the change there, and once it is changed ping me here and I will refresh it. I prefer if you change it there, because I do not know much about those redirects. --Jarekt (talk) 01:53, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
@Jarekt: The Wikidata entry for GND IDs has been updated and the GND link on Template:Authority control/IdentifierList now uses HTTPS. --Gazebo (talk) 10:29, 27 November 2017 (UTC)
Gazebo, I regenerated Module:Authority control/conf and GND's http->https was the only thing that changed. Thanks for getting that fixed on Wikidata. --Jarekt (talk) 13:02, 27 November 2017 (UTC)

Update from enwiki

Please update from enwiki Capankajsmilyo (talk) 07:45, 6 November 2018 (UTC)

Capankajsmilyo, This template is not a copy of anything from enwiki. What functionality are you looking for that is missing? --Jarekt (talk) 13:00, 6 November 2018 (UTC)

Please correct HDS regex

Please apply the recent change to the sandbox: correct HDS regex: six digits, the first may be zero. The examples there display correctly. The corresponding regex in wikidata is \d{6} which corresponds to %d%d%d%d%d%d so you may prefer to enforce exactly six digits here. --Mirokado (talk) 13:21, 24 November 2019 (UTC)

Europeana candidate ?

I have added 160 000 links Wikidata <-> en:Europeana using Europeana entity (P7704) see Task T240290]

I suggest Europeana is added to this module Authority control - Salgo60 (talk) 07:44, 2 January 2020 (UTC)

Louvre update

The Louvre Museum has updated its websites.

{label='Atlas' , property='P1212', lang='', regexp='' }, -- Atlas ID

can now be replaced by the much better

{label='Louvre' , property='P9394', lang='', regexp='' }, --Louvre ID

-Zolo (talk) 09:39, 24 May 2021 (UTC)

@Jarekt: could you do the update ? The atlas database now redirects to the new Louvre database, and the latter has more entries. -Zolo (talk) 12:26, 12 June 2021 (UTC)
Zolo, ✓ Done but let me know if it works correctly --Jarekt (talk) 21:33, 12 June 2021 (UTC)
@Jarekt: the new link looks fine, thanks, but you can remove the former "Atlas" link, as it now redirects to the new, unnamed Louvre database (see for example File:JEAN LOUIS THÉODORE GÉRICAULT - La Balsa de la Medusa (Museo del Louvre, 1818-19).jpg, where both links lead to the same page). --Zolo (talk) 17:20, 13 June 2021 (UTC)
Zolo, I am not sure if we should remove it. Extra link is not a problem and there are pages that have Atlas ID (P1212) but no Louvre Museum ARK ID (P9394). For example File:Médaillons de Puget et Mansart – Nicolas Gosse – Musée du Louvre, INV 20313 – Q18572485.jpg. --Jarekt (talk) 10:22, 14 June 2021 (UTC)
@Jarekt: two links to the same database is not really useful, and the name "Atlas" is confusing, given that the Atlas database is no longer online. It's true that a few items do not have the new property yet but that should not last long. I can fix them if needed. I should probably ping user:Shonagon who had added the "no value" in your example (and who I think has worked on the database). --Zolo (talk) 14:50, 14 June 2021 (UTC)
Zolo, ✓ Done I removed support for Atlas ID (P1212). --Jarekt (talk) 12:58, 17 June 2021 (UTC)

ResearcherID changed

Hi,

This ID changed but not the associated regex in the template ({label='ResearcherID', property='P1053', lang= , regexp='^[A-Z]{1,3}-\d{4}-(19|20)\d\d$) (line 145). Perhaps remove this regex the time to get a clear idea about the new ID format.

The based URL also changed -> https://www.webofscience.com/wos/author/rid/$1 (new URL).

Thank you. --Benoît (d) 13:39, 1 December 2022 (UTC)
