"Missing image"
Instead of the nice preview with the file information I only get a "Missing Image" warning written next to the images. The script used to work earlier, I did not change my monobook, does anyone know why it does not work for me (FF 2.0.0.7, Win XP)? --Matt314 19:56, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- Fixed. Force-reload the browser, and everything's shiny :-) --Magnus Manske 09:08, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
- Wow, that was fast - thanks for fixing it! --Matt314 20:59, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
error?
Does this script only works with automated galleries in Categories? In Jaromarsburg it is not working but in Category:Wieker Bodden it works very fine.
Also a link to directly edit the description page would be useful. --BLueFiSH 15:29, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
Minor bug
I tried out the gadgets today: On Special:Newimages I clicked "no source" for Image:P1000564.JPG, but instead of marking that image with the appropriate template a new page has been created, see P1000564.JPG. The "Image:" part is missing there. --Überraschungsbilder 10:02, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
The same happened again with "no license" and the page Breuckmann 2007.jpg. --Überraschungsbilder 10:06, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
error on line 1 :(
includePage() is not defined by the time line 1 is reached, apparently, and is causing firebug to spit errors. An easy fix might be do define the function before calling it within this script. This bug may have been introduced by the juggling of load orders for various script files which was done behind the scenes a while back. – Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 21:46, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
- importScript was introduced rev:35064 in wikibits.js () making includePage obsolete! --Dschwen 16:38, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, using this fixes that error. Note that rev:35064 was at Mon May 19 22:52:12 2008 UTC. – Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 14:55, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

Broken sidebar link
I'm not familiar with this script, but I just noticed it in my sidebar... it doesn't do anything. And it shows up on every page including Special: pages. Rocket000 23:58, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, well I guess it does do something if the gallery's formatted correctly. Still, is there a reason it's on by default? Rocket000 00:00, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, this is kinda neat.. but it has some serious bugs. I know it calls an older script, but when it auto tags something it leaves out the "Image:" part and automatically tags a gallery as having no source. Things like this should probably be fixed before rolling it out as a default button. Rocket000 00:35, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
It works incorrectly
When I clicked "no license" it created the page Sebastien frey.jpg instead of adding {{subst:nld}} to Image:Sebastien frey.jpg.--Ahonc (talk) 13:44, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
- Me too. See my post right above you. Rocket000 14:21, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
- And another bug: it put to template the date 2007-12-31: {{no license|month=December|day=31|year=2007}} (see for example deleted revision of Sebastien frey.jpg).--Ahonc (talk) 14:23, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
- Should be both fixed now ('File'-prefix and date). Don't forget to force a reload before trying. Does anyone know why that iframe Magnus uses for editing is visible? It's so ugly... I'll have to experiment with an invisible iframe and changing the link to plain text to avoid that someone clicks the link several times... or maybe we can integrate this with Quick-delete instead? Hmmm... Lupo 21:50, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
PD licenses in the licensing color outline?
Hi! Great gadget!
I work for an educational publisher and I like using Wikimedia images for our materials. Most of the time we use the Creative Commons licensed materials with attribution, so any Wikimedia items are good. However, sometimes there is no room for attribution (say we want to make a tiny icon out of several images). It would be great to have the PD items stand out in a gallery, so we can see which ones they are instead of manually checking each one.
Gallery Details sounds perfect for that. Can anyone edit it to do that? If no one wants to try, can I try to implement that feature?
It seems like this would just entail outlining images with "PD","Pd","Public domain", and "Copyrighted free use" licenses differently from images with other licenses from gallery_details_good_tags. --Kenmayer (talk) 21:16, 11 November 2011 (UTC)
- Have you tried CatScan? http://toolserver.org/~daniel/WikiSense/CategoryIntersect.php?wikilang=en&wikifam=commons.wikimedia.org&userlang=en — billinghurst sDrewth 10:50, 12 November 2011 (UTC)
- By all means, if you can do it, please provide amended code. This would certainly be useful. Rd232 (talk) 12:17, 25 March 2012 (UTC)

Broken?
This very useful gadget stopped working for me a couple days ago. :-( -- Tuválkin ✉ 02:31, 6 November 2013 (UTC)
- Caused by the removal of deprecated functions. Lupo 09:09, 6 November 2013 (UTC)
- What now? -- Tuválkin ✉ 09:44, 6 November 2013 (UTC)
- Anyway it can be fixed? --Jarekt (talk) 19:26, 27 November 2013 (UTC)
- I’m sure I’m not the only one sorely missing this gadget — it is/was invaluable for many kinds of categorization work, and without it many tasks need to be done by tedious browsing of many file pages (meaning they will not be done, or at least much more slowly). -- Tuválkin ✉ 00:21, 29 November 2013 (UTC)
All right, I've put in a couple of quick hacks that should get it working again. After a quick test in FF 25.0.1 it looks as if it's more or less OK, but I cannot guarantee that all the features work. Lupo 19:01, 29 November 2013 (UTC)
- Yay! -- Tuválkin ✉ 19:31, 29 November 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks --Jarekt (talk) 22:18, 29 November 2013 (UTC)
Broken again?
Oops, looks like this is broken again? @Lupo: , @Jarekt: . -- Tuválkin ✉ ✇ 13:35, 17 August 2015 (UTC)
- This should be migrated to ResourceLoader. --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 22:11, 17 August 2015 (UTC)
Please use HTTPS for the "camera model page on the English Wikipedia" link
{{Editprotected}}
Around line 191, the code for MediaWiki:Gadget-GalleryDetails.js has a line that generates a link to the English Wikipedia page for a specific camera model. The English Wikipedia supports HTTPS, and using HTTPS for the link should provide increased privacy and security for users. Please change
'http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/' + encodeURI (exif['Model'])
to
'https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/' + encodeURI (exif['Model'])
instead. Thanks. --Gazebo (talk) 07:07, 14 August 2016 (UTC)
- Done Awesome! Thank you! Steinsplitter (talk) 07:38, 14 August 2016 (UTC)
Dependencies
Since the script loads MediaWiki:Utilities.js and MediaWiki:ImageLinks.js it would be nice to make them registered gadget modules and declare them properly as dependencies in MediaWiki:Gadgets-definition. Eran (talk) 19:17, 12 February 2017 (UTC)
- I want to import part of the gadget to he.wiki. only the option of showing list of a files in category in one side and the files detail near. Just the way it shows in Commons. but seems that there is some issue with it. Can someone can help her?
- @Jarekt: , @Steinsplitter: , @Rillke: , @Lupo: . -- Geagea (talk) 13:42, 16 February 2017 (UTC)
- I can not help as I do not know java-scripts. --Jarekt (talk) 15:04, 16 February 2017 (UTC)
bug
For a long time I thought the recent files page was just buggy/broken, but enough time went by that that seemed unlikely. After much playing, I identified this gadget as what was breaking it for me. Regardless of that gallery's settings, it always displays all of the wikicode for a page next to the thumbnail for every image, one on top of another, with some images taking up a lot of space because of longer file pages. FYI. Disabled now. — Rhododendrites talk | 04:36, 20 June 2019 (UTC)
Down
Till yesterday it worked. Today it does not. Any ideas? -- Tuválkin ✉ ✇ 11:02, 20 July 2020 (UTC)
- And meanwhile it was fixed and has now been working normally for several months. Thank you! -- Tuválkin ✉ ✇ 01:03, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
