Description
Nederlands: De penitentiaire inrichting Karelskamp Almelo was het decor voor een bijzonder evenement. Binnen de gevangenismuren werd het internationaal voetbaltoernooi European Football Works Festival gehouden. Het toernooi staat in het teken staat van de re-integratie en arbeidstoeleiding van (ex-)gedetineerden.

Doel is om profclubs te inspireren om zich maatschappelijk in te zetten en de voetbal te gebruiken om de levens van mensen in Europa positief te veranderen. Daarbij richt de EFDN (European Football for Development Network) zich vooral op doelgroepen in een achterstandsituatie, zoals (ex-)gevangenen.

Deelnemers zijn de maatschappelijk georiënteerde teams Ajax Challenge, Dordrecht United, Heracles Almelo, FC de Rebellen (met onder andere Glenn Helder en Jeroen Heubach), Southampton, Chelsea (beide Engeland), Bohemian FC (Ierland) en KAA Gent (België) en teams van gevangenissen: PI Almelo, PI Lelystad, PI Nieuwegein, Norgerhaven, PI Veenhuizen/FC Emmen en het Duitse JVA Lingen.
