Description

[Vue de Genève, prise de la Porte de Neuve]; [recto bord inférieur au milieu au crayon]: 1800 ; [verso au crayon]: 5,683; 15; [?]; Genève, vue partielle du sud-ouest. Fortifications; embarcation

Français : Au centre se trouve la porte Neuve érigée en 1740. Derrière on devine deux silhouettes qui semble marcher sur la rampe de la Treille, sous les façades des immeubles de la vieille ville. Les structures de deux pont-levis sont visibles : le haut du pont principal devant la porte Neuve, et un second pont sur un fossé, sur la droite. Le talus qui barre l'image et surplombe le fossé serait la redoute, l'élément de fortification qui devance la porte Neuve. Ainsi il faut passer deux pont pour accéder aux jardins de Plainpalais et à la route de Carouge. Voir ce plan des fortifications de 1841 qui montre la redoute et ses deux ponts.
