Description
Nederlands: Poorttoren in de burcht van de heren Van Voorne uit de 13e eeuw, die staat op een opgebrachte heuvel (motte). Het kasteel van de heren Van Voorne heeft een ronde weermuur met torens en een forse donjon op de top van de heuvel. De heer C. Hoek (1924-2013), directeur van de Oudheidkundige dienst van de gemeente Rotterdam, wijst naar het duimgeheng van de voormalige deur in de poorttoren. Iets daaronder is een horizontale sleuf in de muur voor de sluitbalk. Daarmee kon de deur van binnen extra worden vergrendeld.
