@Civvì: I was going through the landing pages, and came across this one. I noticed that the explanation is probably very hard to follow for a new contributor (most countries see over 50% contributors that never edited before the contest). I would encourage you to make the process more explicit and explain a bit more detail. I warmly recommend to use the template that Martin Kraft shared recently on the announcement mailing list. @Effeietsanders: Thanks for the suggestion, we are still working on it. Most of the text is commented ;-) --Civvì (talk) 19:36, 28 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Effeietsanders: Sorry, I didn't want to sound rude. We copied the same texts which worked quite well last year. --Civvì (talk) 19:53, 28 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't take it as rude at all - glad it's on the way. I know you still have some days, just wanted to make sure it's on the radar. In general I'd say there's always space for improvement though, so I'm glad you're checking the texts from last year and improving - even if that's harder for you given all the languages. When will the national winners be announced? Chme82 (talk) 19:48, 16 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Civvì: Probably it’s necessary to ping you to get an answer. Can you respond to my question above? Thank you. Chme82 (talk) 10:26, 20 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I've no idea, you have to ask @Ilario: for this part. --Civvì (talk) 10:42, 21 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, @Civvì: . @Ilario: I would therefore like to ask you again for an answer. Thank you. Chme82 (talk) 09:32, 13 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Ilario: , @Civvì: , @CristianNX: , @Yiyi: I'm still waiting for an answer to the question of who has now taken which place in WLM 2019. Will this be announced? Already in August 2019 I had to ask Wikimedia CH to find out if WLM 2019 will be held in Switzerland at all. I therefore think that the communication about the contest should be improved. As a first step, you could also announce here on the project page whether there will be WLM in Switzerland again in 2020. Thank you Chme82 (talk) 20:56, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Chme82: the winners are here. This year the internationl and the national selection is the same. The photos are in the correct order. We are preparing the official announcement. --Ilario (talk) 10:09, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
On the project page there are only ten photos with the note "2019 international selection". In my opinion, it would be necessary to write more, so that everyone can understand that these photos are also the national winners in the corresponding order. You should improve that this year. Nevertheless, thank you very much for the feedback and that you run WLM over the many years. I've been enjoying it for a long time and am already looking forward to WLM 2020. @Ilario: , @Civvì: , @CristianNX: , @Yiyi: Within the context of WLM 2019 in Switzerland, I wished that communication on the part of the organisers would be improved. As a first step, I would have liked to be informed as early as possible about the implementation of WLM 2020. You have said that an announcement will follow. It is now October. The promised announcement has not been made and WLM 2020 has not taken place in Switzerland. That is a great pity. Please do not misunderstand me. I do not want to grumble here. Can you tell me/us what happened? What has to happen for WLM 2021 to be possible in Switzerland? Can the community support you in any way (to be honest, I don't have enough time at the moment)? Thank you Chme82 (talk) 20:00, 6 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Improving communication around Wikimedia competitions and projects in Switzerland
Already in August 2019, before WLM 2019 was held in Switzerland, I had to inquire via the contact form of Wikimedia Switzerland in order to find out whether this competition would be held at all. After WLM 2019 was finished, only the international selection was published, but not a ranking of the national winners. I contacted you again (see above) and wished to improve the communication about WLM in Switzerland and especially to inform as early as possible about WLM 2020. According to your feedback (see above), an announcement should have been made. Although WLM usually takes place in September, I have not yet been able to find such an announcement anywhere. My enquiry, from the beginning of October 2020 (see above), as to why WLM 2020 did not take place in Switzerland, has remained unanswered to date. As I have now only recently learned, Wiki Loves Switzerland will be held for the first time from 15 October 2020 to 30 November 2020. This competition seems to be a very good thing, which I welcome. Even though the call for entries for Wiki Loves Switzerland refers to WLM 2019, I don't know at the moment whether WLM 2020 has not been held solely because of Wiki Loves Switzerland.
But my main problem remains another: As with WLM, I only found out about Wiki Loves Switzerland at the last minute.
Photography is my hobby and I could probably write articles as well. However, the time I have for this, apart from my job and family, is limited. In the meantime, I will hardly have time to participate in Wiki Loves Switzerland 2020. Although I would like to contribute more to Wikimedia Switzerland projects as far as time permits. However, in order to provide contributions of a certain quality and not just random products, I am dependent on early information about planned competitions and projects.
I would therefore once again like to ask you to provide better and above all early information about your competitions and projects. In my opinion, this might be a way to win more people for a cooperation with Wikimedia.
I have the following questions:
  • What are the real reasons why WLM 2020 was not held in Switzerland?
  • What competitions and projects Wikimedia Switzerland is planning in the next few years?
    • In particular: Will WLM 2021 be carried out in Switzerland?
    • In particular: Will Wiki Loves Switzerland 2021 be carried out in Switzerland?
  • How many months before competitions are held can you already provide basic information about them?
  • Where can I (already now and possibly in the future) get early information about planned competitions of Wikimedia Switzerland?
I have sent this request both via contact form to Wikimedia Switzerland (in German) and placed it on the discussion pages of both WLM Switzerland 2019 and Wiki Loves Switzerland 2020 (in English). Thank you. Chme82 (talk) 16:36, 2 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
