Is it up to the organizing team if it is "definitely participating", or that is a matter to be decided by the competition's commission? --aad_Dira (talk) 16:54, 29 May 2013 (UTC).[reply]

It is up to the organizing team (assuming they are willing to comply with the general conditions).--Ymblanter (talk) 21:17, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I guess we will be complying! --aad_Dira (talk) 04:53, 30 May 2013 (UTC).[reply]

Antarctica[edit]

Antarctica?

A country(?) with cultural heritage monuments? --Atamari (talk) 11:00, 4 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Not country itself, but patrimony of the world. In Antarctica there are bases big as cities (i.e. USA, Argentina, Chile). They even get "antarctic citizens" (even childs born there). I don´t know other base (McMurdo should be great) but I was in Base of Chile and they've got supermarket, post office, bank, church, hospital... Why not to wait to see what they've got to offer? What about The Ceremonial South Pole? Cheers. --Ganímedes (talk) 11:59, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
We will have a discussion with the Antarctic Treaty System and see what is possible exactly. The good thing is that the lists of monuments (Antarctic Protected Areas is the name they use) is already available on Wikipedia and is quite detailed. If you want to help out organizing it, give a shout! Effeietsanders (talk) 20:37, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm involved organizing WLM in Uruguay, and short of time, but I will help you if I can. --Ganímedes (talk) 21:45, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There are about eighty "historic sites" in Antarctica - some buildings, some sculptures/monuments, some just an empty space and a plaque. They're all internationally designated, so not on any one country's own national registry, but are usually designated and maintained/operated by one or more countries. Several (eg Port Lockroy, HSM-61, or Whaler's Bay, HSM-71) are popular tourist destinations for visiting cruise ships. Andrew Gray (talk) 09:51, 8 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Cool! - or would cold be more accurate? Antarctica makes WLM even more global! --Pakeha (talk) 22:09, 18 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Progress page[edit]

Wich one is the progress page we must fill? Should be create one? Thanks. --Ganímedes (talk) 00:51, 15 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ganimedes, I'm not sure what are you referring to... do you mean the timeline ? -- CristianCantoro (talk)
From Timeline: "February 25 Add your country to this list on Wikimedia Commons and create a page for it. Also, fill in the progress table for your country". Do you have any example to guide me? Thanks. --Ganímedes (talk) 10:15, 15 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Ganimedes, this is the progress page for WLM 2013, please fill it with your country's data. Thank you for poking :-) -- CristianCantoro (talk) 12:27, 15 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Belarus[edit]

This country does not participate this year in Wiki Loves Monuments 2013. (example). Fix it, please. --Чаховіч Уладзіслаў (talk) 03:47, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Because orinally no response was received + the website http://wikilovesmonuments.by is not showing how to participate in Wiki Loves Monuments, Belarus was set inactive. We are still waiting for the update of the website!! Romaine (talk) 11:15, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Is it possible to paticipate in Wiki Loves Monuments in 2014? How? -- HighAley (talk) 13:19, 20 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
See Commons:Wiki Loves Monuments 2013/Future for a discussion whether there will be a contest in 2014. If Wiki Loves Monuments 2014 will be organized, regulation might be very similar to this year’s. --Alex (talk) 21:03, 5 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh?[edit]

Nagorno-Karabakh is not a country and it's an internationally recognized part of Azerbaijan Republic. So I deleted Nagorno-Karabakh from the list of participating countries and I demand to add all photos of Nagorno-Karabakh monuments to Azerbaijan category. Wertuose (talk) 06:36, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

See my explanation in the TP of Interfase: User talk:Interfase#Wiki Loves Monuments 2013. Thank you. --vacio 16:14, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, but I don't see any intelligible explanation in your response. Your arguments are too weak. Because as it's said Nagorno-Karabakh is not a country and it can not participate in WLM by default. And there are no deviations provided from this rule. So your reverts and explanation are against the rules. So at first you need to change the rules and after that you can add separatist regions name and flag to the list of participating countries. Please be aware that if you will revert edits one more time this will cause a conflict with the intervention of administrators. Wertuose (talk) 04:59, 3 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, the very first day you decide to join WLM, you are blanking, reverting and changing the name of an event page without agreeing with local organizers or apparently thoroughly reading the event page. That is disruptive and it makes me sad. Please stop doing that and please take your time to discuss things you don't understand (or disagree) with the organizers. You are not editing a Wikipedia article.
If you would've looked to the list of participating countries, you would see, that - for instance - Belgium is participating to WLM together with Luxembourg, which of course does not say that Luxembourg is part of Belgium. Then you would see that Antarctica is participating to WLM as well thanks you Wikimedians of Argentina, which again does not mean that Antarctica is a internationally recognized country or part of Argenita.
So, even though I don't agree with your political statements, I must emphasize again (I'd hoped you would read that in the TP of Interfase), that WLM is not a political event, but a cultural one. The only reason why we - organizers of WLM in Armenia - decided to support Wikimedians from Nagorono-Karabakh to take part to WLM is that we think it's important to have photos of monuments in Nagorno-Karabakh here in Wikimedia Commons (maybe also because Nagorno-Karabakh has a predominantly Armenian cultural heritage, but I wont use that as an argument). --vacio 14:26, 3 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
