Varför använder inte bannern Special:MyLanguage? --Sabelöga (talk) 15:58, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

/Axel Pettersson (WMSE) (talk) 10:06, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Because nobody asked me to add such a link and it was not on the CentralNotice either. Also a landing page in multiple languages is not that common and I did not think about it. But... I just implemented the Special:MyLanguage, so from now on it links to the language version of the user settings. But thinking about it why I never used Special:MyLanguage before, I remember: it has a big flaw. Most people that participate in a photo contest usually do not have a user account yet. So if they see the banner in Swedish and click on it, they still get with Special:MyLanguage the landing page in English because they do not have a user account (read: the settings of Commons are then in English). So I removed Special:MyLanguage, and changed the banner in such way that it let the people who see the banner in a certain language also go to the landing page in that language. If that works better then that's even better, thanks! --Sabelöga (talk) 11:56, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Sabelöga for the question, and Romaine for a great explanation and for taking care of the banners! /Axel Pettersson (WMSE) (talk) 13:09, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
