Duplicate entry with different scopes[edit]

Currently, there's an image (File:Alitta succinea (epitoke).jpg) listed twice. And the scopes are different. ?? Rocket000(talk) 00:48, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm.. I guess it won twice: Commons:Valued image candidates/Nereis succinea (epitoke).jpg and Commons:Valued image candidates/Nereis succinea (epitoke).jpg (epitoky). Did not know that could happen. Rocket000(talk) 00:53, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes an image can be valued within more than one scope. There is another example on the main project page. --Slaunger (talk) 07:32, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
We should add something in the template for cases like these. Rocket000 (talk) 08:31, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
In which template? What's missing? --Eusebius (talk) 08:53, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No, I mean instead of adding a another template for each scope the image is valued in, we have some parameter we can change to make the template appear differently. I'm thinking maybe a VI logo on each side or maybe just making it say "this image is a Valued Image in Scope A and Scope B". Rocket000 (talk) 09:09, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, ok, on the image page then. Maybe it is linked to the current discussion about the assessments template, but I'm not part of it actually. Kim, are VI to be included in {{Assessments}}? --Eusebius (talk) 09:18, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If {{VI}} were to accept multiple scopes (can be more than two in principle), that will require some work to be done on VICbot when tagging image pages as it would have to be aware of whether there already is a VI template on the page and then modify the existing one if there is. Note that there is also a time-date parameter to the template per scope which is used to place the VI in monthly VI categories, which is a further complication. Actually I do not think the bot places VI on the page but rather substitutes {{VI-add}} on the image page as this one takes care of creating and passing the date-time parameter to {{VI}}.
So I would say it is not worth the effort considering that we one have less than a handful multi-scope VIs.
An alternative solution could be to make a cleanup bot (I'm volunteering for that), which goes through image pages which have award templates on them, and merges instances of two VI templates into one, orders the award templates consistently with {{Information}}. Concerning the integration of VI in a new Assessments template, I would say that it is not entirely settled. Personally I am concerned about the added complexity - especially the integration with existing bots. The good thing about an integration would be that there is a consistent ordering of the awards within the template. If it is to be integrated, I would strongly suggest that this is still done in a separate frame within the template retaining the VI background and border colours. --Slaunger (talk) 09:46, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Need someone with a basic knowledge of biology[edit]

Hello, Could someone with at least a basic knowledge of biology add the categories please? Yann (talk) 09:37, 8 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Adding a Category[edit]

Can a category for numismatic objects be added? Something like "Objects/Numismatic" which would encompass coins, tokens, paper currency, checks, and any other images of non-conventional currency. Thanks --Godot13 (talk) 14:22, 31 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
