Where to start?[edit]

I want to help with image categorisation, but it seems like this page is very out of date and also completed. This page says, see Special:Unusedimages, and that page says, see Commons:Really unused! So what to do? pfctdayelise 15:53, 21 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You are absolutely right. A few minute ago, I have put online a script that will hopefully solve this problem. see http://tools.wikimedia.de/~daniel/WikiSense/OrphanImages.php. That script works on a (nearly) live database, and has several options for grouping and sorting. In conjunction with CommonSense, I hope this will allow us to clean up the orphans more efficiently in the future.

Please try the script I mentioned - if all works well, i'll start to advertize it. -- Duesentrieb(?!) 21:18, 21 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, you're awesome. :D I put some comments here: Commons talk:Tools/UntaggedImages. pfctdayelise 01:10, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I'm thinking about dropping in on the work. But first I have a question. There are many links to already deleted pictures. Will a script go over this page to remove them? Or will some User have to remove them?--Senip2 09:41, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hm... this page was obsoleted by the OrphanImages tool, as stated in the page header. However, commons is now so large that the tool takes much too long to get all the orphans :/ I'll have to look into that agin I guess. -- Duesentrieb(?!) 11:22, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Page no longer needed?[edit]

Should this page be closed down and archived? It no longer seems useful to work from, even though the replacement tool still takes ages. --MichaelMaggs 18:24, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Think it should be archived... --GeorgHHtalk   18:05, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
✓ Done but I'm not sure what to do with the translated pages. ({{Historical}} adds pages to the en archive category). Rocket000 21:11, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
