Categorization[edit]

One piece of advice that seems to be missing (except for point 1.7, perhaps, but it‘s quite vague) is for the curators or archivists to consider how their media will be categorized. If they can decide in advance how the material will fit into our category schema(ta), the upload mechanism may be able to automate the addition of metadata-based categories, whether implemented through templates or inserted directly. I thought this worth bringing up because I see quite a few batch-uploaded files that are poorly categorized (or not at all), and a little investment of attention to this question made early in the process might save a considerable expenditure of time & effort after the fact.—Odysseus1479 (talk) 01:48, 29 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
