Crosspost[edit]

Sorry if this message is a little bit unusual, but I've been looking for help for some days now. Is there a GLAM-friendly operator for this? Thanks.--Elitre (talk) 19:13, 9 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimedian in Residence[edit]

I'm organizing a residence at Brown University's Institution:Ladd Observatory in w:Providence, Rhode Island. A draft of the project description is at Outreach:Wikipedian in Residence/Ladd Observatory. Any feedback, suggestions or help spreading the word would be greatly appreciated. Rename institution[edit]

Could anyone please move Institution:Herzog-August-Bibliothek, Wolfenbüttel to Institution:Herzog August Bibliothek Wolfenbüttel? The name is spelled without hyphens. Thanx. --Summergirl (talk) 12:47, 25 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Populating metadata fields[edit]

Hi, I posted this question to the Wikimedia help desk and they sent me in GLAM's direction in hopes of an answer-

My institution, NIST, would like to make our library's archival photograph collections available on Wikimedia Commons. However, we have a large number of photos to upload in batches. Each photo does have embedded EXIF metadata, but I wondered if there was a way, using the Wikimedia Commons batch uploading software, to automatically populate the title, author, and description fields with the metadata already embedded in the photos. This would save us a lot of time that we would otherwise spend copying and pasting the individual titles, dates, and descriptions for each of several thousand photos. I can see just from the collection examples here on GLAM's wiki that this, or something like it, can be done, but I'm just not sure of the easiest way to go about it.

Thank you! --Katelynd.bucher (talk) 13:01, 2 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Moving/merging on meta[edit]

Hello, following a discussion on the GLAM mailing list of the Wikimedia France chapter, it's been suggested that all documentation about GLAM project should be merged and maintained on meta. Comments and help are welcome. --Psychoslave (talk) 18:04, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
