Commons talk:Administrator permission for statistics

I think it's a good thing that we have the page - i think it's problematic however that it does not clearly state what type of statistics may be published. For example, some people may be perfectly ok with numer of blocks/protections/etc per month or week, but not per time of day... So, what am I actually agreeing to here? Is this a blanket waver to allow anyone to publish any statistics?

Note that i'm not personally very concerned about this. But I can already hear the wailing and gnashing of teeth... -- Duesentrieb(?!) 17:58, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well the wailing and teeth-gnashing people won't sign at all, I suppose.
Since I wrote the statement in a very broad way, I guess it is a blanket waiver to allow anyone to publish any statistics from the logs which are already publicly available. So they can choose to break up the stats however they like. Why, OTOH, we would care how many deletions any person did at any hour of the morning, is a whole other matter. :) Per month is about the most fine-grained I personally could get interested in. pfctdayelise (translate?) 05:35, 10 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not that this makes much sense, but for the fun of it, here's the top 50 of admins acc. to the number of deletions. And where is the real statistics page?

That's so cool! It was a good idea to only list to top 50. Maybe top 40 would suffice.

I am mainly interested in, who is doing the core work of Commons here. Some admins do a lot of work without getting any recognition whatsoever only a lot of complaints.

So I'm only 20 deletions after Bastique? Hmmm... that's not too bad...

Fred Chess 20:29, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What do you mean, "real statistics" page?
This is cool, but some people have been admins longer than others, so it's a bit unfair. We really need a rate. :)
But anyway congrats to Nilfanion, amazing result!!! --pfctdayelise (说什么?) 04:35, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think it makes sense to remove nicks from this chart, as this information is publicly available at editcounter and Special:Logs/Rights anyway... / tsca @ 22:46, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tsca, the whole point of this page is that some people aren't comfortable with such information being collected and collated about them. Please remove any people who haven't signed. pfctdayelise (说什么?) 01:51, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
They've already been removed by Fred. / tsca @ 02:35, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I have to agree that I don't see any problem with a list that simply lists admins by total deletions. The arguments were against listing them by deletions during a specific period of time, which is what the second list here does. I can also see that people might object to having the full list posted if they are listed at the bottom of it. However, a list of the 40 admins with most deletions on Commons is not something I can see anyone object to. On what grounds? I'd appreciate if someone showed me on what grounds.
If I could, I would recreate the first list on this page to include the top 40 admins regardsless whether they signed or not.

Actually I'm a little surprised that I even made the list (#48). A good incentive to delete more images! Alphax (talk) 00:53, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please remove Category:Commons maintenance. The page is just clutter there. Rd232 (talk) 00:26, 12 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
