There is no higher resolution of that picture. It's an old bus, so it's the old photo from the time when not everyone could afford a high-resolution digital camera. 92.18.238.135 03:46, 1 May 2022 (UTC)

That's quite hurtful hearing people saying the website and the logo I worked very hard to create were copyright violations taken from the web.... Bryan6823 (talk) 16:08, 8 May 2022 (UTC)

Please try to understand that this is just an automated process that was designed to protect original content creators like you. As Jeff G. explained, usually uploads like yours are copyright violations taken from somebody else's website, but it does not at all mean that your work was rejected as an actual copyright infringement. A full-sized JPG with metadata included should not be rejected though, so you may want to give it another try. I am a United States Air Force veteran. I grew up mopping darkrooms for my father's photography lab before going into the Air Force for Early Warning Radar then later transferred to Airborne Battlefield Air Traffic Controller aboard ABCCC EC-130 aircraft, before my honorable discharge when I began work in Sheriff's Law Enforcement. Anything I upload are photos that *I* took with my 35mm film Yashica camera over 30 to 50 years ago & over the decades the film has been misplaced but I have scanned photos from 8" x 10" down to "4 x 5" which wind up being digitized in smaller than normal format. I will also be uploading digital photos I've taken more recently with my more modern digital cameras. This minimum pixel size limit is a ridiculous way of weeding out copied work. I completely understand, I was transferring the photo between different devices. And that must have done something. Sorry about this error I will work to fix this. I think I know the issue, and I do have the original photo so I will work on that.

Everyone knows that the Wikipedia etc. "Publish changes" button is subject to reversion (and possibly worse, to hide "copyvio" content in History).

It is a little annoying to have a "Publish" button that is CONDITIONALLY BLOCKED based on reasonable limits like certain words when that's the policy. (Edit it until it goes in.)

But it is INSUFFERABLY WRONG to have a "Publish changes" button that is UNCONDITIONALLY BLOCKED. Because NO MATTER WHAT the human user prepares as input and then submits, the computer will ONLY AFTERWARD tell that human that NOTHING the human entered would have been retained! Now "Publish changes" sometimes really doesn't mean it? Hell no. No computer interface has THE RIGHT to do that to an actual person.

Maybe it's just my strange ethics regarding humans and computers. (Do you have any written standards?) How about:

• COMPUTERS MUST NOT WASTE HUMANS' TIME OR EFFORT.
• COMPUTERS MUST NOT TRICK HUMANS INTO WASTING TIME OR EFFORT.
• COMPUTERS MUST NOT DISCARD HUMAN INPUT THAT COULD BE EDITED INTO COMPLIANCE OR USEFULNESS.
• COMPUTERS MUST NOT LIE TO, CHEAT, STEAL FROM, VANDALIZE, TORTURE, OR MURDER HUMANS. (I think everyone knew these.)

This "Abuse filter" action is as welcome as a fake "Close" button on an advertisement.

You could have done worse. Some sites had web forms that let people enter text of any size, and then only after submission told them it was "too large" (when the box could easily specify a length limit, which visibly stops typing when it becomes full). Worse than that, some forms would DISCARD the entire entered text, with no way to get it back. Such behavior is utterly despicable. It is barely forgivable even on logon pages. (If I mis-enter my password, IT IS WRONG to make me re-enter my account number.) EVERY WEB BROWSER behaves better than this, warning me if I [accidentally] try to navigate away from a page where I have outstanding WORK. A876 (talk) 23:04, 20 May 2022 (UTC)

@Jeff G.: That only reinforces the despiscableness. Your THING didn't tell me WHICH rule I violated or whether there is a handy way to comply. Given that there is no way I could comply AND that this rule applied BEFORE I STARTED EDITING, your THING had NO RIGHT to LET me start editing AND, after it let me start editing anyway, it had NO RIGHT to refuse my edit. I have no idea what the cryptic "Patrol" or "Autopatrol" is or means, why I might want it, or WHY I DON'T ALREADY HAVE IT after xx YEARS. Your implementation of rule 245 is an ethical disaster. That rule makes [one small corner of] Wikimedia and Commons into another honeypot. Okay. The better way (the only civilized way) to "enforce that rule" (or any rule that unconditionally blocks saving) is to NOT let anyone begin editing AS-IF some kind of editing were possible (as I stated above, in other ways). I don't know why some computers in the 2020s are starting to act like computers of the 1950s. Yesterday a People's Bank ATM did this to me: I inserted my card, entered my PIN, specified the withdrawal amount, and selected the numbers of bills (which btw is unnecessarily tedious -- 30 softkey presses for 30 bills). After I approved my selection, ONLY THEN did it check my PIN, and say the transaction was canceled. (I could not remember my new PIN that day.) Their ATM treats their own "native" customers like foreign-bank cardholders. Citibank ATMs screen the PIN much earlier, and display your balances before you specify an action.

"It is not usual" to edit another user's user page on Wikimedia Commons. I suppose it is not as rare elsewhere, because I have done it elsewhere (out of helpfulness). ("Be bold", etc.) But the fact that it is IMPOSSIBLE here makes that error report into a miserable lie. A876 (talk) 23:09, 31 May 2022 (UTC)
