Tracked on Bugzilla under bug 37144 (UploadWizard tracking: Wiki Loves Monuments contest issues)

Major requests (aggregation of below bugs/requests)

  1. Bug 32247 Back-forward functionality for the whole wizard process (general usability)
I'm curious as to how this might work for, say, the upload step--would we re-upload on the next button? What about the "thanks" page? Would we delete the page, then re-create it afterwards? I can see this working for going back to copyright, but maybe it would be better to just consolidate the two steps if it's that much of a concern. Thoughts? MarkTraceur (talk) 19:06, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
I whipped up a patch, now awaiting review, that adds in "remove" functionality for the details step, because "remove" doesn't make sense anywhere else. This should remove any problems that might have been caused by the lack of navigation, since any recoverable errors are already caught before form submit, and any unrecoverable errors can now be fixed by deleting the file. MarkTraceur (talk) 20:24, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
  2. "Start Upload again" or "reset wizard" button (general usability)
I think this functionality is more properly provided by browser refresh, unless it would be that much simpler to add an extra "refresh" button, I don't think this is necessary. MarkTraceur (talk) 19:06, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
  3. prefill any field (custom campaign or default) by GET parameters (WLM)
This ought to be pretty trivial to implement --Jeroen De Dauw (talk) 17:10, 11 March 2012 (UTC)
  4. parse wiki syntax (e.g. hyperlinks) in campaign form labels (general for campaigns)
  5. allow returnto-parameter when linking to a wizard campaign and needing to login or register (tricky, but especially relevant for WLM because the campaign URLs are complicated and hard to find again for newbies)

Minor requests

  1. tooltip for custom field label (general for campaigns)
  2. additional choice for licenses to choose from in campaigns (general for campaigns)
  3. Bug 31124 - Going to the next step should set the user to the beginning of the form
  4. Bug 30645 - No history for upload campaigns

Bugs

  • If the user tries to upload a file that already exists, the only available option is retry the upload. I believe this is not specific to the WLM wizard, but I believe it is more important here, where uploads are supposed to be made by non-wikimedians, to be able to click on the step names and be taken back to that step.--Strainu (talk) 11:11, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
Don't know why, but description on the standard Upload wizard is mandatory, but not on the WLM campaigns. Where is that configured? --Elya (talk) 15:27, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
Could you try to reproduce that? Something that sounds similar seems to be fixed with Bug 28740. --Elya (talk) 15:13, 4 March 2012 (UTC)

Feature requests

Bug 33341, Allow URL Parameters for prefilling of fields. The bug has a URL to our WLM mailing list discussion concerning this. --Elya (talk) 16:09, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
  • Regarding the licensing (as already expressed by Jane), I'd rather skip from "Send/Submit" directly to "Description", since we agreed on the CC-BY-SA-3... there should be a button "Back" if the user wanted to change the license. -- Nuno Tavares PT 20:59, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
  • After upload, there are some instructions and examples of how to use the uploaded image. Please remove that, it's of no use for WLM's purpose. We'd rather say something like "thanks, your message has been submitted for the WLM challenge". -- Nuno Tavares PT 21:00, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
I don't see why it should of no use for WLM? We had multiple requests in the OTRS like "where is my image" - "how to put my image in the lists" etc. – Independend on that, you can set an individual "thank you" message in the last campaign configuration field, this will appear above the "use" block. Something like MediaWiki:Mwe-upwiz-campaigns-wlm-eu-use/pt --Elya (talk) 16:33, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
It's possible to include a message on the top of the wizard. However, I'd prefer to do it at the page you can specify for "ID description", but that page doesn't get parsed for some weird reason. I was thinkink of having something like this "Monument ID ([see the list])" -- Nuno Tavares PT 18:41, 28 August 2011 (UTC)

Bugs

  • If a user changes the name on the Release rights page then the old username is still used everywhere instead of the new entered name. The new name should be used in at least the author field of the information template. /Lokal_Profil 11:38, 11 September 2011 (UTC)
Bug 30762 / Fixed --Elya (talk) 14:42, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
fixed. --Elya (talk) 15:16, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
  • Multi-file upload: I'm getting this:
Error: http://commons.prototype.wikimedia.org/w/load.php?debug=false〈=pt&modules=ext.uploadwizard.mediawiki.language.parser%7Cjquery.autoEllipsis%2CcheckboxShiftClick%2CcollapsibleTabs%2Ccookie%2CdelayedBind%2ChighlightText%2CmakeCollapsible%2CmessageBox%2CmwExtension%2Cplaceholder%2Csuggestions%2CtabIndex%7Cmediawiki.Uri%2Chtmlform%2Clanguage%2Cuser%2Cutil%7Cmediawiki.action.watch.ajax%7Cmediawiki.legacy.ajax%2Cmwsuggest%2Cwikibits%7Cmediawiki.libs.jpegmeta%7Cmediawiki.page.ready&skin=vector&version=20110828T170207Z&* at line 6: Parse error at position 0 in input: {{PLURAL:$1Existe um erro|Existem $1 erros}} {{PLURAL:$2|no formulário|nos formulários}} acima. No sure what it means... 217.129.171.33 17:29, 28 August 2011 (UTC)

Not solved, but not reproducable without more information. As it happened on prototype and multiple file upload worked multiple times on Commons in the meantime, I close this bug for the moment. Feel free to reopen if you can reproduce it. --Elya (talk) 15:40, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
closed, not a bug. --Elya (talk) 15:40, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
  • user gets dropped to Main Page instead of upload wizard page
If starting as logged out user from [1] -> then the "Not logged in" page is displayed -> and after logging in -> user get's redirected to Main_Page instead of special upload wizard page. --WikedKentaur (talk) 18:30, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
Not solved, listed this as a feature request. --Elya (talk) 15:52, 4 March 2012 (UTC)

Questions

  • Is it possible to use parser functions for the free field value handling? I'd like to use #ifexist for a category ("if category $1 exists, use it, else put in a maintenance category"), seems not to work (on prototype or generally?) disclaimer: maybe it's my own error, but would like to check this first --Elya (talk) 08:56, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
I did some tests with User:Cirdan/templ and that seems to work. Or are you trying to put the ifexist structure right into the UploadWizard?--Cirdan (talk) 12:55, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
I wanted to put it directly in the wizard so the output is the correct Category. However, your approach is worth trying. --Elya (talk) 14:01, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
Looks like the field is normally parsed so you can just use all the template tricks you like. Multichill (talk) 20:38, 29 August 2011 (UTC)
