This image was deleted by User:MichaelMaggs for the reason "depicts a copyrighted work". I believe this deletion to be not justified. Deletion was discussed before and denied because of german Freedom of Panorama legislation. I contacted the deleting user but got no reaction. Please undelete. -- Kju (de) 13:27, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SpongeBob is protected by U.S. copyright. The image depicts someone wearing a costume of the copyrighted character, which isn't a permanent structure. 哦,是吗?(висчвын) 21:26, 28 March 2008 (GMT)
It doesn't depict someone wearing a costume, but a statue of Spongebob. For all we can tell, the statue is permanently installed there. --rimshottalk 16:56, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The movie park, however, is a private venue with the right to refuse entry, not a public place. LX (talk, contribs) 09:14, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose undeletion. You're right, I was thinking more of a public park than an amusement park. The park is privately owned and you have to pay to get in -> no FOP. --rimshottalk 11:58, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Maryland Interstate sign images[edit]

These images were speedy deleted after User:Freewayguy placed a speedy deletion template on the pages noting that the Maryland State Highway Administration's official documents state that new signs should not contain the state name. However, the signs with the state name have been used in the past and are thus of historical interest. Note that none of the speedy deletion circumstances apply here: the files were intact, had not previously been deleted, and had valid licensing. - Algorerhythms 02:53, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have restored the images. Please categorize them and change the description so that it is clear that these signs are no longer used. Samulili 09:44, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I listed this as a deletion request in March 2007. The following discussion led to my conclusion that this security camera photo is ineligible for copyright protection since no human was involved in taking the photo. The photo was retagged with PD-ineligible. In January 2008 it was deleted anyway claiming that the permission information was incomplete. I request that the photo is undeleted. i took this myself so what's the problem with rights/decsription?The decsription is 'picture of the portuguese church in Malindi, Kenya'

Image:LiptonRAKericho.jpg

This is in teh public domain and was released by the company for media purposes and can be found on news sites etc. so no copyright issues http://www.talkingretail.com/products/6438/Unilever-launches-first-Rainfo.ehtml

thanks for restoring both.

Different issues:
  • Image:Church Malindi.JPG: You did not give a license. You must state under which license you want to publish the image. At the linked page you will find information about licenses, I have undeleted the image to give you the oppurtunity to add one.
  • Image:LiptonRAKericho.jpg: The image is not at all in the public domain. Giving away an image for press purposes and releasing it into the public domain are two fundamentally different things.
Hope this helps. --rimshottalk 12:31, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Can Image:Batista-RAW-live-08.jpg be restored? At flickr, it says "Some Rights Reserved. Stated here Speed CG 15:54, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Flickr uploader's photos come from at least four different point-and-shoot cameras and one scanner. It doesn't seem too likely that the Flickr user is the copyright holder. LX (talk, contribs) 18:41, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There is a deletion log for Image:Picture19.png. You commented by saying that it ought to be deleted but the License was changed to Attribution 2.0 Generic (an acceptable license) in the past day or two. Is there any way you can remove the deletion log.Thank you- Manaspunhani (talk) 08;29, 18 April 2008 (UTC) the preceding unsigned comment was added by 83.182.154.79 (talk • contribs) 18:28, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

deleted screenshots[edit]

I made a gallery of screenshots like it was suggested to make my article not look like a gallery, but then it was deleted. So how should I make it?

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Mal_Updater the preceding unsigned comment was added by Kotori (talk • contribs) 17:49, March 19, 2008 (UTC)

"it was suggested to make my article not look like a gallery" I'm confused. First, we don't have articles here. That would be Wikipedia. Second, I really hope no one suggested to you to make your gallery not like a gallery. Where's the sense in that? And lastly, you didn't try to make it like a article at all. It was just some images on a page. Take a look at some of our galleries and compare them to what you made. Hint: It helps to use the <gallery> tags and one or two sentences describing the page. Categories are nice too. Your screenshots aren't deleted by the way. - Rocket000 21:23, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've checked the screenshots' copyright status, and they do not appear to be free; therefore I have deleted them. After deletion, the only stuff left on a gallery page like this would be red links, so  Not done 哦,是吗?(висчвын) 19:45, 21 April 2008 (GMT)

Visionaries: Knights of the Magical Light (TV series) screenshots[edit]

Hi,

I am translating the article to Spanish Visionaries: Knights of the Magical Light (TV series) and I decided to take my own screenshots for it, which I found deleted today.

Why were they deleted? I know I could not assign the appropriate Copyright just because the {{{Non-free television screenshot}}} licensing was not available in the combobox list of licenses presented to me.

Are the pictures too large? Why is it Ok to have the screenshots in the Article in English? (I've noticed many articles are not as rich in images as in English).

Thank you the preceding unsigned comment was added by Jlascar (talk • contribs)

I'm sorry that your images got deleted, however we generally do not accept TV screenshots at the Wikimedia Commons. There are many non-free images hosted by the English Wikipedia that are used under the fair use provision of US copyright law. The Wikimedia Commons is intended for freely licensed and copyright free media only and so does not host non-free images. The Spanish Wikipedia has decided not to host images at all, only using images hosted at the Wikimedia Commons, this means that articles in the Spanish Wikipedia cannot use non-free images. We have no control here over the policies adopted by the Spanish Wikipedia. —JeremyA 23:13, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

These were deleted as being empty after a user removed them from the templates intended to populate them. It appears that in both cases that removal was caused by accident during substantial revisions of the metadata templates. Dragons flight 01:28, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Elvis' Pink Cadillac image[edit]

I am requesting that Elvis55PinkCaddy.jpg be restored.

http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Image:Elvis55PinkCaddy.jpg&action=edit&redlink=1

I took this image with my own hand while at Graceland. As well I consider the image public domain as millions have taken a similar picture of this car when they have visited Graceland. If you read your liscensing, common images such as this, like the mona lisa, ect. are public domain as they have been photographed millions of times.

Please restore as this image is also supporting Elvis' Pink Cadillac wikipedia page.

Thank you, Dave Holler the preceding unsigned comment was added by Dwholler (talk • contribs) 03:48, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Mona Lisa isn't public domain because it has been photographed so often, but because it's more than 400 years old. You photograph was deleted because you did not state a license. The message on your talk page says the same thing. Also, please sign your posts with four tildes, like this: ~~~~. --rimshottalk 07:15, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have undeleted the photo but you need to provide a coyright license tag on the image description page. Commons copyright tags to chose from are available at Commons:Copyright tags. If you do not chose a tag, your image may be deleted again. Also, the image is not in use on any Wikimedia page and a 300 × 162 photo is not very useful. Thuresson 14:37, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

✓ Done but deleted again since no license was provided for over a week. You may request undeletion again when you are prepared to choose a license, but please be ready to actually do that next time. LX (talk, contribs) 19:43, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
