Vote on the Upload tool you think is the most important. You can vote for as many as you want.

UploadWizard[edit]

Special:Upload (simple upload form)[edit]

Mobile app (tell wich one)[edit]

  •  Support WMC Android app – High-impact since most readers probably use WMC via smartphone by now and many of these use the app and lots of potential. Currently no Explore Home Page (like the desktop main page), crashes when viewing userpages, doesn't show cat descriptions, and lots of file types such as videos are not shown. I think WMC usefulness & use/popularity are high priority. --Prototyperspective (talk) 11:44, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Support Would like to have an IOS app with support for upload campaigns. --GPSLeo (talk) 18:06, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Flickr2Commons[edit]

Pattypan[edit]

Vicuna Uploader[edit]

Other batch upload tools (tell which one)[edit]

Video2Commons[edit]

CropTool[edit]

Url2Commons[edit]

derivativeFX[edit]

  •  Support in the sense that it should not be necessary to have a tool like this at all. This is essential functionality that any UploadWizard worth its name should have had right from the beginning. --El Grafo (talk) 10:24, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • yes should be a functionality of wizard. pick which file you have used and the wizard does everything needed (linking, attributing...).--RZuo (talk) 14:05, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Support People say we see so few derivative images because images/photos are different than text. In fact, it's a pain to make derivatives. It starts with lacking image editing functions and ends with attribution and licensing. At least the latter, derivativeFX tried to solve. -- Rillke(q?) 19:22, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

IA-upload[edit]

The API itself/pywikibot/custom scripts[edit]

Other (tell which one)[edit]

  •  Support a new Study2Commons tool where you enter an url to a study (e.g. nature.com/…) and if it's CCBY it automatically uploads the files along with metadata like date and description so it only needs to be edited afterwards before it's published. It's not like this bot. I think this survey shouldn't be about which tool is most important but "most in need of tech development". That is because the broader survey is about that. --Prototyperspective (talk) 14:20, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion[edit]

Comment: I find this very ill-conceived. Most important to whom? Obviously, the UploadWizard is most important to new users, but it would be ridiculous to drop the much simpler Special:Upload which is often far more useful for experienced users. Or: CropTool serves a different purpose than pretty much anything else here. Obviously it's not as important as the tools with which the bulk of uploading is done, but it serves its particular purpose better than any of the others.

I don't think there is any particular concern with retaining any of these particular tools as such: the issue is that we need their capabilities to be supported. - 21:31, 15 January 2024 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jmabel (talk • contribs)

Just my opinion, but this has more to do with maintaince prorities then "picking one tool over another." So I think you could reasonably do a poll like this if its ranked choice or something similar. It probably isn't or wouldn't be fair as a hardline, single option poll without some kond of understandable and easy to follow ranking method though. --Adamant1 (talk) 20:45, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
