October

Singapore Flyer and Gardens by the Bay

Help please. I feel this ought to have been a good shot, but it doesn't 'wow' me as much I think it should. Did I err? Is it salvageable? Cheers, Ben Aveling 11:30, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

  •  Comment -- Colors are washed-out, contrast and sharpness are on the poor side. That is probably the result of poor lighting conditions and/or considerable haze in the atmosphere. You can manipulate saturation and contrast but I doubt the result will be satisfatory. Btw, composition is not the best, with the centered subject and the cropped highway in the foreground. It can certainly be improved a lot by playing with the curves or levels. I'm guessing it was taken through a window based on the darker part on the right hand side, which would also add to the haze effect. In some cases, shooting with a polariser filter can help with such problems. It also looks like the photo should be rotated about 0.7 degrees counter-clockwise (which is not a lot, but enough to be visible). LX (talk, contribs) 12:09, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
    • Yes, shot through glass from one of the Gateway towers. And in Singapore haze is hard to avoid. I'll try the rotate, some different cropping, and curves/levels - just as soon as I get a few free minutes. Thanks both for the feedback. Cheers, Ben Aveling 10:40, 23 November 2011 (UTC)

St. Adnrews Strand

What can you say about this photo, could it be an Quality Image?

Thanks, --Wvl-live (talk) 19:03, 6 October 2011 (UTC)

The horizon is too much centered, you may want to consider a crop at the bottom. Dunno if it could pass as QI now. Regards, Grand-Duc (talk) 23:16, 6 October 2011 (UTC)

Better like this?
