Apple live pictures?

Is there a tool for converting Apple live pictures to a format acceptable by Commons?—agr (talk) 09:22, 17 April 2019 (UTC)

@ArnoldReinhold: What format do they use?   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 12:21, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
Apparently Live Photos include a jpeg and H.264 with some additional data. Here is a description I found at Stackoverflow [1]. Of course one can just export the jpeg, but the motion effect can be quite nice. For example I recently uploaded some jpgs I took at the Boston Marathon. In live photo they show a couple of seconds of the runners running.--agr (talk) 15:27, 18 April 2019 (UTC)

Help asked: SVG scaling / rendering, font problems

Uiteenvallen Oostenrijk-Hongarije (1918)

Hi, I have created a SVG map using Inkscape, but after uploading the text doesn't show as it's supposed to, but completely in the wrong scale, even causing text falling off the image. The font I used is Fira Sans. I tried cleaning up, tried optimized svg, regular svg, nothing seems to solve the problem. Can anyone help out? --oSeveno (User talk) 14:00, 25 March 2019 (UTC)

@OSeveno: Please read meta:SVG_fonts (more precise) and Help:SVG#fallback (easier). You use a font that is not available on Wikimedia, therfore you should use a different font. Maybe a more common one such as DejaVu Sans or Liberation Sans. You can see all available Sans-fonts at: File:MediaWiki_SVG_font_list_sans.svg.

Thanks for your reply. Pitty there are not that many options. I had purposely replaced DejaVu Sans by Fira Sans, since DejaVu Sans doesn't score high at readability when generated as thumbnail on Wikipedia. I am surprised even Linux Biolinum isn't on the list. On the list are mostly very old fonts. Does Wikimedia never add any new fonts? --oSeveno (User talk) 18:43, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
@OSeveno: I'm not so much into fonts, but which fonts would you like to add? I will write a phab:-Ticket and suggest it.  — Johannes Kalliauer - Talk | Contributions 16:25, 17 April 2019 (UTC)
@JoKalliauer: Thanks for asking! Especially condensed or narrow fonts are only minimally available. Condensed or narrow fonts are useful for allowing maximum amounts of text on small spaces, while maintaining readability. I'm missing the following: DejaVu Sans Condensed, DejaVu Serif Condensed, Fira Sans Normal, Fira Sans Condensed, Fira Sans Compressed (Github: Fira Sans), Linux Biolinum (including Linux Biolinum Capitals), Linux Libertine (including Linux Libertine Capitals), Open Sans (including Open Sans Condensed), Noto Sans Condensed, Semi-condensed, Extra condensed @ Noto Sans). All Open Font license. Regards, --oSeveno (User talk) 11:59, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
@OSeveno: I created phab:T221453. Please edit if you like  — Johannes Kalliauer - Talk | Contributions 14:58, 19 April 2019 (UTC)
@JoKalliauer: Thanks for that! --oSeveno (User talk) 17:16, 19 April 2019 (UTC)
