- Oppose That leaf that cuts through the middle is too distracting.--Fotoriety (talk) 21:56, 7 December 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose I have to agree the leaf is quite dominant. I can't get over it. Otherwise, of course, a very nice catch! --Ximonic (talk) 04:51, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
- Support - I respect the observations of those of you who are in opposition to promoting this picture, but I differ with you. My reasoning is that I'm looking at this photo as a composition including a black-tailed skimmer, not as a Valued image of a black-tailed skimmer. My reaction is that the interplay between the leaf and the skimmer's back wings makes the composition more enjoyable for me to look at, so I think it's not a bad thing if it takes away a bit of the singleminded focus from the skimmer. I could see wanting the leaf to be slightly more blurred, especially on the right side where it turns brown, but I don't find that enough of a detail to change my vote. I don't know whether my way of looking at this picture would be orthodox or unorthodox among photographers, but it comes from my being the son of a painter and looking at photographs similarly to how I look at paintings. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:43, 8 December 2015 (UTC)

- Support - the detail is very nice, and I actually think the parallels created by the leaf and wings add a different dimension to the overall composition. I like it. --Atsme😊📞 18:42, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
- Mild support I don't find the leaf as distracting as the opposers do, and the detail on the insect is great. Daniel Case (talk) 19:42, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
