Discussion

I've uploaded a sample file at File:Building construction on Broadway (Beaverton, Oregon Historical Photo Gallery) (1).jpg. I've also created {{Beaverton Oregon Historical Photo Gallery}}. The images will be automatically categorized and some have a date. No author information is provided, so I'm not sure what to put.

I don't believe I'll be working on Commons:Bots/Requests/Smallbot 3 for a while...but this is ready to go.Smallman12q (talk) 20:21, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I think will be good idea to add city/state information into description field. May be Historical images of Beaverton, Oregon will be better then Buildings images of Beaverton, Oregon? See also Category:Buildings by city for naming convention of such categories. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:51, 16 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The image categorization is based on how it went on the site (and how they are auto-categorized here):

"Array("Aerial", "Airport", "Buildings", "Businesses", "Churches", "Events", "Lumbermill", "Other", "People", "Schools", "Streets", "Transportation")"

All of the images are historical, so I could add that category to the template. Also, there's no date for most (and no author for all) given, so should I remove the fields? I've added "Historical images of Beaverton, Oregon." to the description in the example file.Smallman12q (talk) 23:34, 17 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I think will be good idea to not rely on server for categories. Buildings and cemeteries are placed in Category:Scenic images of Yamhill County, Oregon what is not so correct. I think city subcategories are more precise place. Same for Soviet armored vehicle :-) --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:44, 20 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The soviet T-55 tank...that I did not see before (though its amusing that they flew one to Oregon=P). I can re-categorize after the upload (300 images is much easier to do than 4000)...I haven't written anything to do it easily offline. Also, what do with the author and date field?Smallman12q (talk) 00:09, 21 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Could you please elaborate more on author and date field question? --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:48, 21 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The date is only provided for some of the images. The author is not provided for any of the images. Should I include an author and date field?Smallman12q (talk) 23:01, 21 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think removing default fields will not save too much space on database servers :-) --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:45, 22 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Okay then...I'll leave the blank fields in. Is the upload approved?Smallman12q (talk) 15:43, 22 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think will be good idea to await a little bit for other opinions. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:50, 23 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've waited for prior uploads and got no response. I've uploaded the 305 images to Category:Beaverton, Oregon Historical Photo Gallery. If there are suggestions, I'll be happy to implement them. Also, I used the {{Unknown photographer}} for all the images. I'll notify WikiProject Oregon so they can make use of the images. I'll put up the source code this week.Smallman12q (talk) 15:54, 23 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

File:Downtown_historic_district_(Beaverton,_Oregon_Historical_Photo_Gallery)_(332).jpg File:Beaverton Bakery (Beaverton, Oregon Historical Photo Gallery) (303).jpg File:Dr. Robinson's house and Beaverton Bakery (Beaverton, Oregon Historical Photo Gallery) (308).jpg look like copyvios to me. They're modern enough (from the colour/cars) to still be in copyright. --99of9 (talk) 06:08, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds like all images have been uploaded? Can this request be closed? --Dschwen (talk) 15:29, 2 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Closed as now obsolete (bot task already completed). --Dschwen (talk) 15:28, 5 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
