Discussion

Test run done on my alt account (User:Mdann52(alt)). --Mdann52talk to me! 19:12, 11 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Pleas create a user page for your bot. --Steinsplitter (talk) 19:14, 11 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Imho you don't need botflag (there is no need to tag new uploads as +b) --Steinsplitter (talk) 19:15, 11 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
User page for bot created (and alt account redirected). I though +b would stop flooding, but it appears not in the case of uploads. --Mdann52talk to me! 19:55, 11 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Who is reviewing images before transfer?
I noticed also separate description clean up edits. Could you combine clean up and upload?
EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:09, 12 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@EugeneZelenko: I generally try to clean up the code as much as possible when I move the files, however nothing is perfect (!), so sometimes there are a few minor formatting issues to clean up. In terms of reviewing, the files in the category are being reviewed by both human's and bots, and I am also manually checking to ensure any URAA/PD issues are cleaned up before I initiate the transfer, and nominating them for deletion on EN if there are any issues. --Mdann52talk to me! 15:33, 12 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This sounds satisfactory to me. It looks like there will be a lot of human oversight and not even a flag is being requested. If nobody objects I'd approve this (non)request :-) --Dschwen (talk) 02:10, 8 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It's just due to the possible bulk nature of the uploads - I don't want people shouting at me down the line ;) --Mdann52talk to me! 15:39, 8 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Dschwen, @Mdann52: I would like to temporarily object to the request given that none of the files uploaded either by Mdann52 bot or Mdann52 are categorised. We already have tens upon tens of thousands of uncategorised files, with more and more being uploaded every day, so I feel we should not ignore this issue. Once all files are categorised, and some action is taken to make sure that this doesn't happen in the future, I am OK with proceeding with this request. Thanks :-) odder (talk) 09:26, 28 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Good point. I thought the categories would be set through manual intervention. And I doubt the bot can do this easily. I wouldn't stall this request until all files are categorized on commons, or am I misreading that statement ;-). A commitment by User:Mdann52 to categorize all his bot uploaded images would be sufficient for me. --Dschwen (talk) 16:32, 28 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
If the files are catagorised on enwiki, the categories should be carried across automagically. If not, I'll try and add relevent categories, but there are always those that don't fit into neat categories. Reguardless, I'll do my best :). --Mdann52talk to me! 07:00, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Dschwen: It's been almost a month now with no more objections - can this be approved? --Mdann52talk to me! 11:07, 19 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

✓ Approved Good enough for me. --Dschwen (talk) 15:55, 19 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
