[edit]Do not delete this category. The reason is that an view tower is a tower just for fun open for the public. An Observation tower is for buissenes for observatin a prison or a Border or for looking for fire. Therfore there is a great difference between both sorts of towers. Diese Category nicht löschen. Der Grund ist daß ein Aussichtsturm zum Vergnügen gedacht ist offen für Publikum. Ein Beobachtungsturm ist ein Turm für besondere Zwecke um etwa ein Gefängnis oder eine Grenze zu überwachen oder als beobachtungsturm um Brände frühzeitig zu erkennen. - I agree to Ronaldino's words. Observation towers and view towers are not the same. Ok, sometimes it may be a little bit difficult to categorize towers because, for example, some were built as observation towers and are used today as view towers. I think the use of the tower today should determin the category. Therefore don't delete category view towers. --Wildfeuer 18:49, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
- The same problem is cropping up in en:wikipedia, although such a distinction would seem to make sense, although the distinctions are there, the words to describe them are not. For most English speakers, what you consider to be "view towers" would be called observation towers. "View towers" is an un-natural combination (search for "view towers" in Google images, and you'll not find it being used as you use it. Using "Viewing towers" produces images of camp and fort towers. A compromise would be to revive and use "Watch towers" which has been slated for deletion for those images you are now using "observation towers" for, and to change the use of "observation towers" for the files now in "view towers".KTo288 (talk) 22:34, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
- Wenn ich das jetzt richtig verstanden habe dann gibt es im englischen für die beiden Formen von Türmen kein unterschiedliches Word. Da es aber für Deutschsprachige und vieleicht auch anderssprachige sehr wohl einen Unterschied gibt würde ich mich freuen wenn ein Kompromiss gefunden werden könnte. - Zusatz: sollten die Unterkategorien "View towers of Germany" und "View towers of Switzerland" nicht "View towers in Germany/Switzerland" heißen? Oder um Unklarheiten zu vermeiden:
