{{move|Maintenance of railway|to be not confused with pathway and road maintenance|3=2011-01-19}}

  • Oppose Maintenance of way has some historical basis. It refers to the maintenance of the 'permanent way', a well-recognised term for railways. It's also narrower in scope than "railways" in general, such that it would become confusing if renamed.

"Category:Maintenance of railway" should also, if anything, be plural, not singular. Andy Dingley (talk) 21:58, 13 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose the term has a lot of specific usage exclusive to a rail transport way. The initialism MOW is used heavily in publications like Trains magazine of the United States. The initialism is also used outside of the United States as shown by file names uploaded such as: File:MOW BPO3000.JPG, File:CIC 3809 MOW.JPG, File:MOW Vehicle Schotterpflug 01.JPG, File:MOW Vehicle AVG 01.JPG. I concede that "MOW" can rather easily be inferred to mean "Ministry of Works" (a term analagous to "Department of Public Works" in the United States), but the category does not use the initialism and instead spells out the term in full. 69.115.42.244 03:22, 5 January 2012 (UTC) I think a more effective way to avoid the possibility of confusion would be to place an explanatory hatnote at the top of the category possibly using {{For2}}. As an example of what could be done:[reply]
