Category naming[edit]

Any reason this article is titled "Hate for..." rather than "Anti-"? The second one would be consistent with other categories. See Category:Anti movements, for examples. Perhaps this category should be renamed? djr13 (talk) 10:31, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think, there exist no such terms as "pedopilism" or "anti-pedophilism" (do not confuse pedophilia with sexual abuse) and we should not create some neologisms. Btw., "LGBT opposing views‎" with its subcategories (as "homophobia") and "pro-life movement" are also not "consistent" with the "Anti-" terms. --ŠJů (talk) 10:52, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Right, the closest related term would probably be pedophilia, thus one possible renaming would be Category:Anti-pedophilia. And yeah, there are some categories that do now follow the common method of signifying opposition by using "anti-", but they are somewhat uncommon. Aside from "anti-" there is also "opposition to" categories which I've considered adding. The difference with this category is "hate for" is less neutral in tone than "anti-" or "opposition to" and I can't think why it would be chosen over these. There isn't even a single other instance of an article or category titled "hate on" or "hate for" either in Commons or Wikipedia.
(Category:Pro-life movement is an odd one because it seems to have become Wikipedia's standard way of referring to anti-abortion politics, even though the movement is obviously defined specifically by being in opposition to something. Even the thing it's against has such a focus-inverted political movement behind it, called Category:Pro-choice movement. I don't know what the proper way to handle that is, and don't personally want to wade into that one.)

Pedophilia is not a movement, so "Anti-pedophilia" can be some negative sexual oriention (pedophobia?) but not any anti-movement (as well as we have no "anti-homosexuality" or "anti-leprosy"). "Anti-pedophilic" can be also some therapeutic methods but I suppose, we should not cover them into any "anti-movement" related to pedophilia. I think, the category should be limited to hateful or discriminatory activities as the current name actually do. "Hate" is as little neutral as "phobia" but i think, anti-movements are not neutral from their essence, so the terms cannot be neutral. --ŠJů (talk) 12:32, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe, Anti-pedophile activism should be the category name. --ŠJů (talk) 12:37, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I've nominated the category for discussion so that we can get more input and ideas on how to handle opposition categories. djr13 (talk) 13:03, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I somewhat fail to see a real difference between this cat and Category:Demonstrations and protests against pedophilia. Therefore the content of the former should be moved into the latter. --Túrelio (talk) 08:40, 30 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Demonstrations and protests against pedophilia is really Category:Demonstrations and protests against child sexual abuse (it is in Category:Demonstrations and protests against crime) (rename?). Here, in discussed category, is hateful "activism" against pedophiles. E.g. in ia.wikipedia is article ia:Pedophilophobia. See e. g. image from Poland File:Graffiti Poznan Pedofilia.jpg. This inscription is: "Cure for pedophiles can be cheap". Pedophilia is paraphilia (medical term), not crime. I remove this category from :Category:Demonstrations and protests against pedophilia.
