English: The Wandsbek was a German full rigged steel ship, built as the Ardencaple in 1885 in by Alexander Stephen & Sons Glasgow (yard no 289 ) for Edmiston & Mitchells, Glasgow. 1896 she was sold to Knöhr & Burchard, Hamburg and was renamed Wandsbek. In 1900 she called at Falmouth for orders on passage from Portland Oregan. Ordered to Liverpool and she was towed from Falmouth to off the Lizard by the tug Dragon. Later in light winds she ran ashore at Stag Rocks on 26 May 1900 and becoming a total loss.
Her dimensions were: length × beam = 255 × 39 ft (77.7 × 11.8 m) and she had a tonage of 1782 GRT.[1]
The ship should not be confused with the same owners four-masted barque Wandsbek ex Ancyra, built 1892.
