English: In early 1995, some cars were fitted with hemipantographs to test the existing infrastructure for this novel contact mechanism before the arrival of the new articulated cars (series 501-510):

In the same year, remodelado cars (single truck, with modern motorization and 1930s car bodies) were introduced: these were fitted with only trolley pole at the beggining; the whole series was fitted with additional hemipantograph in 1996-1997 — see Category:Lisbon tram 541-585 without hemipantograph.
