de: Überreste der historischen Gärtnerei des Hotels Kaiserin Elisabeth in Feldafing am Starnberger See, Gärtnerhaus, Gewächshaus, zahlreiche Frühbeetkästen, Apfel- und Birnbäume. Die Ende 2022, kurz vor Schließung des Hotels für einige Jahr, aufgenommenen Fotos dokumentieren die Überbleibsel eines einst voll funktionierenden Allround-Gärtnereibetriebs. Die Gärtnerei diente von Mitte der 1870er-Jahren bis 1894 im Rahmen der insgesamt 21 mehrwöchigen Sommeraufenthalte von Kaiserin Elisabeth in dem Hotel, der Produktion und Versorgung mit Obst, Gemüse, Kräutern, Blumen für die Kaiserin und deren 200-köpfigen Hofstaat.

Wir haben dieses kulturelle Erbe in den Fotos dokumentarisch festgehalten. Das Hotel steht unter Denkmalschutz, die Inneneinrichtung und das Gewächshaus mitsamt Gärtnerhaus, die bei dem bevorstehenden Umbau vermutlich verschwinden, nicht. Das Foto von der Gewächshausruine und dem Hotel symbolisiert für uns eine wichtige Aufgabe von Wikipedia: Wertvolles Kulturgut zu dokumentieren, auf seine Gefährdung aufmerksam machen, und wo es zugrunde geht, zumindest die Erinnerung daran wach zu halten.

en: Remnants of the historic nursery of the Hotel Empress Elisabeth in Feldafing at Lake Starnberg, Gardener’s House, Greenhouse, Cold frames, Apple and Pear trees, which we discovered on a MUC-Culture tour on December 29, 2022, just two days before the hotel closed. The nursery once provided fruit, vegetables, herbs and flowers for the Empress Elisabeth and her court, which numbered 200 persons, during their summer stays at the hotel. From the middle of the 1870s until 1894, they spent 21 summers here, usually for several weeks. We have documented this cultural legacy. The hotel building is protected as a historic monument, however, the interior furnishings and the nursery are not, and they will likely disappear during the course of the renovations. The photos of the green house ruins and the hotel show one of the important functions of Wikipedia, namely, to document our valuable cultural heritage and to draw attention to its potential endangerment, or, if it is lost, at the very least, to remind us of what it once was.
