[]s Srfortes 01:16, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
Hi, I proposed to the deletation of the image above, since it is not in public domain, considering that it is the logotype of a private organization founded in the '60s. Thanks. --Tonyjeff 13:27, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Portugal's Coat of Arms
[edit]I'd like to thank you for creating an SVG version of Portugal's coat of arms. It will be mightly useful for all projects that deal with Portuguese iconography.
I have noticed that you vectorized other Portuguese symbols. If I may ask, in case I'd provide you with an image of the ancient flag symbol used in Portugal during the "Mestre de Avis" rule, would you be kind enough to vectorize it and release the result in PD?--Saoshyant 13:09, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm?
Thank you for the SVG COA of Argentina. It is very good and almost perfect.
The only thing that could be improved are the laurel arround the shield.
The left twig should have 23 leaves on the inside and 25 on the outside. The right one should have 21 on the inside and 20 on the outside. Don't ask me why but that is the official description. --ALE! ¿…? 20:58, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
The ratio of the shield should also be 14:11 your's is more like 4:3. --ALE! ¿…? 21:00, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
- A description of the number of laurel leaves can be found here: http://www.edusalta.gov.ar/portal/digesto/descargar.php?archivo=../descargas/digesto/decretos/reglamento_egb.pdf (Page 64). --ALE! ¿…? 10:27, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for the new version. I still have some points. The ratio (14:11) is still not correct. Maybe you could paint the ellipse 700px high and 550px wide. The number of leaves looks good, but the last leaf on the outside looks like a double leaf. Maybe you could just paint one. The band at the bottom uniting the two twigs should be light blue-white-light blue, your's is only light-blue. One more point are the colors. Please use RGB 75AADB for light-blue, RGB FCBF49 for the sun and RGB 843511 for the mouth, eyes and so on of the sun. (See: de:Flagge_Argentiniens#Offizielle_Farben_der_Flagge). Besides of these little things, I think that the COA is already pretty cool. Thank you again! --ALE! ¿…? 21:31, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Agora vou-me dormir. Abraço. DuqueVisconde 11:15, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

Iraq and Egypt COAs
[edit]There are minor text issues with these images. On the lower left of Image:COA of Egypt.svg , the "b" ب and "y" ي of al-`Arabiya العربية do not actually connect.
In Image:COA of Iraq.svg , there are orientation and spacing issues with some of the letters. The alif ا of al-Jumhuriya الجمهورية is set at an odd angle with respect to the rest of the word. There's a big gap between the "r" ر and "a" ا of al-`Iraqiya العراقية , while the next three letters ("aqy") are jammed extremely tightly together. You may need to really bend the letters (as on Image:Palestine COA.svg, instead of just rotating each letter (or sequence of connected letters) at a slightly different angle... [edit]A very good job . I have a doubt about the COA of Iraq . The arabic text written in the COA you've made is الجمهورية العراقية (the iraqi republic) but the on the site of the Embassy of IRAQ in Canberra , Australia ([2] from ) it is written جمهورية العراق (The republic of Iraq) . Image re-uploads
[edit]The info you put into the main description box on the image upload page only becomes part of the image description page the very first time that an image is uploaded. If you're re-uploading an image on top of an already-existing image of the same name, then the contents of the box only have the effect of appearing parenthesized on the file upload summary -- otherwise they're not added to the page. So you don't need to put all the licensing info, general description of purpose of image, etc. in the box every time when you re-upload -- instead just briefly describe the changes you've made with respect to previous versions of the image. "Letters in heraldry"
[edit]Also Category:Letters in heraldry should not be used when there's just a name or motto on a scroll above or below the main emblem (which is extremely common, and not worth noting), but rather when letters are significantly part of the main central emblem or coat of arms. My bad
[edit]It's correct now, except that I copied the text from the Arabic Wikipedia article ar:جزر القمر into the description on the Image:COA of Comoros.svg, and overlooked the fact that there's actually a mistake in that article! The page says, "CoA of Empire of Brazil (1822 - 1889)". This means the coat of arms was created, at the latest, in 1822. It's impossible for the original author not to have been dead for the past 70 years. Yonatanh 14:39, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
- It's a derivative of the original coat of arms and therefore contains little to no creativity and is still in the public domain in the United States per Bridgeman Art Library v. Corel Corp. (as is the svg version which is also a derivative). Yonatanh 17:26, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

Image deletion warning | Image:COA_of_Israel.svg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file. |

- In other words, I have no idea what you're talking about and it'd be helpful if you provided a link so I understand what you're talking about. I also resent your accusation that I'm a vandal. Yonatan talk 19:44, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- Firstly, since the community chose me to be an admin, I doubt the same community would consider me to be a vandal. Secondly, I made one bad edit two months ago when I was still a newbie here. Aren't people allowed to make mistakes or do we need to straightaway jump to the [false] accusations stage? Either way, SupersededSVG is probably gonna be deleted soon anyway and I feel that Vector version available is much better for use on that particular page since it isn't an exact replica. Besides, if I felt strongly about it, I wouldn't see the need to post on the image page saying that I think it should be changed to Vector version available, I'd be bold and edit it, then if anyone disagrees with me they're more than welcome to contact me on my talk page so long as they keep the accusations out of it. Yonatan talk 20:01, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- Firstly, yes, it pretty much does as if I were a vandal (ie. had intention of hurting the project, it isn't vandalism if there's no intention) I wouldn't have become an administrator. Secondly, I never insisted upon it. I made a mistake and I admitted to it (ie. I said, "I made a bad edit"), obviously the template shouldn't have been changed to SVG but possibly to Vector version available so I don't see where the problem is. I probably meant to change that template to Vector version available in the first place, would you have been opposed to such a change too? Either way, you're coming on too strongly and are definitely not assuming good faith - including the word vandal in a post regarding a tiny edit from two months ago - is not assuming good faith. re: Hi there, Frank! I´d like just to observe that not always IE6 has problems with SVG extension, and in many cases the file may be corrected in order to be well viewable by IE6 users. - Thanks, but that's irrelevant to the time cost of the moment, not to mention the reliability worries when coming across a problem as an article editor. It's hard enough to get text straight and position HTML elements properly so as to minimize whitespace useage without taking a distractive side trip to fix up an image with a problem. That circumstance simply means I found an image or resized one that that cost me extra time when I have little enough to volunteer as is; so such jarred my elbow whilst I'm likely editing in three or four related articles, and does little to ease the peace of mind as to what the customers may see.
I keep my browsers free of extensions and scripts and such and use the default skin specifically so I can see what the customers see as a rendered page, and this is worrisome to me with my eye on the big picture. An isolated occurrence is NBD, but the half-dozen or more I've seen raise sincere concerns that we need to make progress more deliberately more slowly.
My harsh rehetoric was purposeful to make that issue clear! However your assurance does suggest there ought to be a tag for such problems so some body of people who do have an interest in editing images can address such fixups. Maybe I should propose THAT here and on WP:VPT!) Cheers and thanks! // FrankB 18:33, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:COA_Brazilian_Navy.svg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use cc-by-sa-2.5 to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or PD-self to release it into the public domain. SVG bloat

- I don't think it has much to do with the upload process -- it's just that the underlying SVG coding of the indented wavy lines is radically inefficent and bloated, so that an image like Image:COA Baron of Maraú.svg (which would probably be about 30kb in length if it were coded consistently throughout) has ballooned to over 800kb in length... Hi Tonyjeff,
You are listed as the author of Image:Palestine_COA.svg. I'm wondering what was your source for creating this image. The source you listed (http://www.flaggenlexikon.de/fpalaest.htm#Wappen) uses a different color, and has a different (illegible) text at the bottom. It is also unclear whose COA this is: The PNA? the "State of Palestine"? The PLO?

Heraldic vector graphic creation
[edit]I see that you have done a lot of work creating Vector graphics of Heraldic devices. I am quite a heraldry buff, and I've got to say that you've done a great job; I'm really impressed. On a related note, I have images of a Heraldic device, a shield, derived from the Coffin family (Devonshire, England) Coat of Arms. The Coffin family's manor, called Portledge, is also a School in New York, United States, which was founded by a member of the Coffin line. The School has adopted the Coffin Shield as its own, and as a main contributer to various Wikipedia articles concerning the school I am very interested in using a Vector graphic version of the Shield.
As a person interested in Heraldry, you would most likely find the Shield fascinating; it is of a somewhat rare design, and uses a few elements rarely seen in English Heraldry. Would you mind at least looking over the non-Vector images, and consider perhaps creating Vector versions? I'd really appreciate it. You can find them at User:RideABicycle/Imagelist
Thanks, RideABicycle 03:19, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

w:List of colors use #C0C0C0 RGB (192,192,192) for Silver colour in its computer representation.
Also en:Silver (color) could be of some reference.
FOTW has a Colour guide that here. They simply use Light grey for heraldic representation of Silver colour. That is RGB (204,204,204).
There is no official colour scheme for the Irish State Coat of arms to be found. I tryed to find any official information but sources are somewhat scarce and difficult to find.
I think that we should not make a big deal about this. You decide weather you have time to use those sources I supplied.

There is no doubt that this information is true, and colours that represent gold are present on the Presidential Standard of the Irish State. Still, if you want the matter could be discussed; but Discussions often lead to colision of oppinions which are not supstantiated by evidence; instead of evidences users can recolect even their memory and personal experiences (not to say belifs even if this would be more often the case).
You can do with this information whatever you want, go with it, or not. I have just reported it, nothing more, nothing less.
Colour of strings on the Presidential Standard is yellow.

"This flag was approved by the Government on 13 February 1945. A number of technical decisions were made at the same time, including the decision that ... the strings of the harp be yellow (in settlement of the question raised by Edward MacLysaght, who had insisted that the strings should be white)." - a quotation from the above mentioned book.

[edit]Hola, no he entendido el motivo de tu consulta (entiendes bien el idioma? if not we can switch to english) sobre el escudo de Castilla-La Mancha. --HansenBCN (talk) 10:36, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

Grito do Ipiranga
[edit]Bom dia Tonyjeff.

Mizunoryu 大熊猫❤小熊猫 (talk) 05:51, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
Mizunoryu 大熊猫❤小熊猫 (talk) 22:22, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 06:22, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Ficou boa...
[edit]a cara do conde.

Maybe you should focus more on improving the extremely poor quality of the image version you prefer, rather than edit-warring... AnonMoos (talk) 14:30, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
- It would be nice if you could devote some of the energy you display in trying to get admins to take your side towards improving the image instead, considering that it's currently of such very low quality as to be almost unusable for any purpose whatsoever. It is an excellent drawing and only it is necessary to change the pillow of the wreath...
I congratulate you again and thank you on your spontaneous amiability--Mel Parlez 02:39, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
