Facebook group

[edit]

@Gunnex and Yann: I noticed that one of those FB groups had no admin and added myself as admin. I wonder what should I do about that, if I should delete the whole group, be quiet, or something different.—Teles «Talk to me ˱C L @ S˲» 17:26, 14 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I joined the group. Yann (talk) 18:23, 14 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

LOL, I saw that too but I feared to waste one of my FB fakes which is monitorizing the related groups & pages. Considering FB help (here: in German) only the creator of the group is able to delete the group. The admin may remove all members (currently 953) and may delete the group only in the case if the creator left voluntarily the group. The group was created by "felix.paciencia" (https://www.facebook.com/felix.paciencia) but he actually appears to be NOT a member of the group. So, you may try it :-)). But: It takes some time (days) to (really) delete the group. You may additional encounter some unexpected problems, especially with dead FB accounts (which, following some related post) are sometimes resistent against removal... and: it's quite time-consuming, as you have to individually click on all 953 members to remove them. After having removed all members, you finally have to remove yourself from the group, (hopefully) getting a FB message like "Do you want to delete the group?". In other words: FB is a mess. Alternatively: Maybe you are able to use your "admin power" to hide/delete comments which are related to Commons uploads... And you may not add new members (especially "felix.paciencia", the creator). If you like, you may add me as admin too. Gunnex (talk) 19:16, 14 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Gunnex: Of course I can add you as admin. Just send me a mail with your account name.—Teles «Talk to me ˱C L @ S˲» 00:46, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Teles, Yann, and Dfoy (WMF): Just to inform that I wrote an email on 29.08.2015 to Daniel D Foy (Technical Manager for mobile partnerships, focusing on the Wikipedia Zero initiative), giving a brief summary of the case Gunnex (talk) 20:47, 31 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ca.wiki

[edit]

As most have been blocked on Commons, they apparently ran to other projects. The most recent is ca.wiki: pt:Wikipédia:Esplanada/geral/Usuários de Angola para ca.wiki (28fev2017).—Teles «Talk to me ˱C L @ S˲» 17:38, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

ca:Viquipèdia:Sala dels administradors#Fitxers portuguesos ca.wiki has restricted file uploads to only autopatrolled and reviewers only. The filter is still catching them Train2104 (talk) 20:53, 5 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
